A horrible and deceptive company with nothing but profit in mind. THEY WILL SCREW YOU. REALLY. Their scam is simple: Make it impossible to cancel the contract. They lie on the phone. They lie to get you to sign up. They lie when they tell you how to end contract. They tell you to send cancel request to the wrong address(es). It is difficult to contact them in any way. Non-helpful and deceitful customer service. Threatening to s u e them is the course I recommend. Also: contact the B B B., FTC and local Chamber of Commerce. Send them loads of Certified letters with return receipts. Lie back to them: Tell them you have become permanently disabled. Stay away from them at all costs. Good luck if you are trying to get away from their evil clutches. They are the reason we hate Gold's Gym. I have never had a more horrible experience with any company ever. Not only did I get tricked into a 2 yr contract they are not even willing to work with me due to the fact that i loss my job. I called and spoke with one of the rep and she told me that they could not suspend the contract for 6 mos because that wasnt an issue to them and for me to keep trying to make the payments I told her the lady at the fitness place told me that ya'll would help me out. I hate this company and would not recommended this company to anyone if you see their name on a contract do not sign please dont this will be the biggest mistake of your life!! man i cant wait 2 get out of this contract. Worst company possible 1/22/2009

I deeply regret the day I got involved with this company. Yes, the gym is a great facility and worth the advertised price. However, your payments are delt with by Paramount aka The Devil. They have double charged me on the same day and then taken weeks to fix the charges! They have 'locked' my account multiple times for mistakes I was not responsible for. If you are late for a payment, even a little, they will treat you like a scam artist trying to cheat the system. This company is horrible and I do not understand how these people live with themselves. Avoid entering ANY contract that works with Paramount, they will do everything in their power to make you miserable! Pros: They will suffer in the next life Cons: everything more

Wow, i have never in my entire life dealt with such a horrible company. The only reason this stupid company is still in business is because they charge such ridiculous amounts for fees and late payments that golds gym and the other gyms will always get payment. It doesnt matter that the economy and everybody in it is struggling right now... Ugh, i hate them!!! Pros: none!! Cons: Everything this company has to offer!!!! :( more

I signed up with Golds Gym and had all the facts. It was $100 to cancel the contract if my employement changed. About 9 months later my employement changed and I called to cancel the contract. I paid and figured all was well......... UNTIL 2 months later when my account was getting charged again. I can't get it to stop. Everytime I fix it, I begin getting charged again. Nobody will call me back when I call Paramount. I am sent to a voicemail. When someone answers, they ship you off to someone elses voicemail. I think, they just transfer people back and forth to eachother all day. THEY ARE HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!! Cons: ALL more

First when you want to sign up at the gym French Rivera the sales people are very nice and they lie to you so you can sign a two year contract by you signing the contract, they get commission and they tell you that if you move over fifty miles away, you just have to call and they will cancel your contract. I moved 500 miles away and have been fighing back and fourth with them for almost three months so they can cancel my contract they are still charging me every month. I've called several times, have sent over 5 faxes and every time I call it's a new excuse to why they haven't cancelled my contract. When i call and mention about the cancellation, they hang up the phone or keep me on hold or just transfer me to a voice mail where no one ever returns my phone call .... Gold's gym was awesome!!! DO NOT, i repeat DO NOT ever get entangled with Paramount Acceptance corp... they are LIARS and CHEATERS!!!!!! they charged my 189 to open and account with them... and 40 a month on top of that and i moved away from the area and was never aware of the cancellation policy or fees... after asking countless times!.... now they want over 400 for me to cancel my account!!! what a piece of work!!! these people lack moral and professionalism... they are the worst and i regret ever doing business with them!!! more

Golds gym was great but unfortunately they use Paramount Acceptance for there billing company! I will never have a Golds Gym membership again for this reason!!... This is the worst company I have ever dealt with. I recently moved out of state and I really got the run around on trying to cancel my membership. In all it should have cost me $99 for the cancelation but I spent about $187. They lie, steal, and cheat you out of your money. Beware of their sneaky ways of getting you in... When you move and try to cancel they will make you pay anyway. After sending your proof and payment, they find ways to continue to charge you. Never Again!!... This is the worst company i have ever encouraged to my friends, SORRY! it was a set up... The gyms are great but the business is bad. None of the employees communicate with one another so they can not effectively handle claims. After i moved, i got the run around. They lie, steal, and cheat you out of your money. Getting rid of a bad rash is easier! 6/30/2008

If you attend Golds Gym in Utah, you've probably encountered a ""personal trainer"" service. No, this isn't a Golds Gym employee but rather an employee of Professional Fitness of Raleigh, NC. Before you sign up for this type of service from Golds Gym, do yourself a favor and dash across four lanes of traffic on I-15 during rush hour. Why you ask? Because canceling your contract with Professional Fitness of N.C. who never, ever answers calls or advises their accounts collection people (Paramount Acceptance of Holladay, UT) that the cancellation has been received. As a result, Paramount Acceptance employees will harass you constantly as well as use different ACH numbers in an effort to take money from your bank account even though you advise your bank that this is no longer allowed. I had to change my bank account number to keep Paramount from taking money after my cancellation fee had been paid. I asked them to verify the cancellation with Professional Fitness, their response in a nutshell was screw off and pay your account before we ding your credit. What a great bunch of folks to work with! Golds Gym, Professional Fitness and Paramount Acceptance add up to a huge screw job you'll likely never get over! more

So, my trainer at Golds never bothered to tell me that I had to give a 30 day notice before my training was up. He rushed me through signing the contract so didnt read fine print (my fault...got it). I did not realize my account was being charged TWICE the rate i was paying for my initial training for more 5 months. It took 3 letters and I finally just cancelled my credit card so couldn't take my money. That was the first several hundred dollars they got from me. When my 2 year contract was up. I go to Golds and am not allowed in without re-signing since my contract was up. I chose not to re-sign (see formentioned issue) and went on my merry way to work out in my basement (much less stressful, still lookin' good). This was in February. It is now June and every month I try to get them to stop taking money out of my account (email, phone call, no one ever remembers that I called) and every month they continue to take. PATHETIC. No one at Golds cares at all. This is just wierd to me. They may have you sign up for one dollar but they get that all back by cheating you out of it. more

Horrible, incompetent, complete nightmare 6/2/2008

INCOMPETENT!!!! Incredibly unprofessional and even more disorganized! Spoke with 4 different employees requesting additional payment coupons. 4 times I was told they would send them. I had to continue to call THEM and continue to request payment booklets so I could make my payments. NEVER CAME! Then THEY attached late fees to MY account for their incompetency!!! I've heard many similar stories. Do not do business with anyone that uses this ""company"". more

This is by far the worst company I have ever dealt with. I called several times to have my account cancelled and they repeatedly told me it was and would not have to do anything else. on the third time of having it recancelled and paying a fee because they charged me they told me I had to send an email to have the automatically reoccurring payments (that I had stopped twice) stopped. They gave me an email that was not valid!! When I talked to a supervisor they always said they were not in yet or could not take calls. It was 10:30 in the morning. They always sent me to a voicemail. Someone actually called me back on one of four attempts but left a message so fast that I could not understand what they said. This organization is criminal and something needs to be done. If you have an account with them get out now! They will steal your money and destroy your credit! Absolutely horrible (incompetent) 4/2/2008

I have had my account with this agency since January and every single month , I have had a call from them saying that my account is invalid and that payment could not be rendered, and every single month I have called this company to verify my account information and to ask if my account information is correct. I'm not sure what happens but my account information still seems to be wrong each month. I am really sick of this. This company is extremely incompetent, and I have no idea why Gold's Gym still has this company has their payment processor. I was looking up Paramounts phone number (again) and while I was on hold I read everyone else's experience and suddently got very, very angry. The mess that paramount has made has caused me 4 phone calls, $60 in unnecessary fees and a bunch of headaches. I am a very patient person and have never written a poor review on anything before, but this has been ridiculous. My husband and I have seperate Gold's Gym memberships and his payment keeps running through our account monthly just fine, mine, since December has been rejected, ran through the wrong account-leading to returned check fees (??) and late fees!!! We have the same account, due date-but some how mine keeps being rejected. They have been impossibly defensive-even before I started to get upset over another $40 in fees the lady was telling me ""calm down, you don't have to get upset with me"" and I just sat there thinking ""I didn't even say anything!"". I know that anyone reading this is already stuck, but there has to be some way to not pay these RIDICULOUS fees for their mistakes. It doesn't seem right in the least. I had signed up for gym membership with riviera fitness center and faxed in paper after a few months that i had moved they were supposed to cancel the service but they did not. so i got called by a blake that work with them he yelled at me and hung up on me after i tried to explain the issue to him. Just to let you know... should you be reading this and already have an account with paramount. SWITCH YOUR ACCOUNT TO A DIFFERENT COMPANY! We had dodgy reps, Called my wife ""a 3rd party"" and wouldn't let her deal with the issue at hand. I am writing regarding a past gym account that I had with another acceptance corp. that was bought out by paramount evidently. My gym never informed me of the changes when the account was sold to paramount. My gym debited my account twice in one month on the 7th and the 22nd of sept. I called and explained to them to check out their records because it was done twice. Well it will never happen again, I have closed my account which was being debited twice and also It caused me to bounce 3 huge checks, credit I am not worried, my husband has everything in his name and I am very happily married. If it takes seven years to drop from my credit report the amount that will be owed, so be it! I will never join a gym again I will buy equipment for my home to work out on now before I do that again. Paramount Unacceptable Corportation! 10/6/2007

These people are complete idiots!! First with Spa Fitness then Lifestyles 2000, and now Golds Gym. I can not, for the life of me, understand how they have managed to stay in buisiness this long. It's perplexing! These people will try to charge you a rediculous amount of money if you miss one payment. I have excellent credit and if I miss a payment, it's because something went wrong not because I just don't want to pay!! Be careful with them. I had my monthly payments withdrawn from my checking account. One day, my bank re-issued debit cards due to security issues. With this change, Paramount was unable to process my payments because they used withdrawals from my debit card and not from the routing number of my checking account. They called incessently. I explained the problem and we came to the agreement that I would rather pay by mail to avoid any problem like this in the future. So, they sent me payment coupons and I began paying by check every month. Well, one day I'm reviewing my checking account on-line and I notice that they took the routing number off one of the checks that I sent with one of my payments and for months have been withdrawing my monthly dues without my consent. I'm not a lawyer, but is this not fraud or theft? So, you make one mistake and they treat you like a convict running for the border! If they make a mistake, and I think this is a huge one, somehow it will be justified. Something like this: ""Well, we're all a little retarded here and we've asked our children what we should do, but they didn't know, so we just kept taking money illegally."" I have worked with other creditors before and none of them are as stupid as these people!!!!! Cons: everything they offer more

DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY 9/19/2007

I have been going around and around with this company for the past 4 months since my debit card was stolen. I called them to give them my new account number, and they are STILL trying to run my payment with the cancelled card. I have to call them every month to take care of it, or they will charge exorbitant late fees even though it CLEARLY is not my fault. My day is already ruined just knowing that I have to call them AGAIN today. I suppose I will be doing this until my gym membership expires in March. I will not EVER sign another gym membership.
