I was really looking forward to great pizza given how people have raved. Service was extremely slow. Very sparse salad for $3.49 although the muffalatta dressing was good. We wait...

Great Lunch Spot 3/19/2009

This is one of the best spots for pizza in Charlotte. Not too many pizza places left that still use the authentic brick oven and really do it right. Luisa's also makes it easy to scoot in and out quickly for lunch on the go. Great spot, highly recommended!! Pros: Fantastic Pizza, Quick Lunch Buffet Cons: Only 1 location in Charlotte more

Simply Awesome Pizza 3/5/2009

I order from Luisa's about once a month and I've never had anything less than a delicious pizza. It's something I treat all out-of-town guests to and they always rave about it. I love that it's family owned, and honestly it's ruined me to chain pizza! I know there are some reviews here about bad service, etc., but they go against all of my positive experiences. Trust me, it's good stuff! My dad (from Michigan) claims it's the best pizza he's even eaten! Pros: Family atmosphere, DELISH pizza, friendly service Cons: More than your average pizza costs but these are huge, top-quality pies. more

Expected much more..... 11/30/2008

I went to Luisa's for dinner based on some of the posts here looking forward to a good brick oven experience. Here is a summary - Arrive around 6 PM on a Monday - a teenage girl (seemingly the owner's daughter and hostess) drags herself away from a table full of her friends and tells me I can sit anywhere - I wait 15 minutes for a waiter - I am literally the only person in the restaurant - the hostess never offered to get him ? In his defense once he made an appearance he did a reasonably good job - The food was at best OK - the cheese bread was far better than the pizza. I should have stopped there. The pizza had a crispy crust and soggy center - not so good. Left after paying the bill - passed the hostess without as much as a 'come again", "thanks for coming and being our only customer tonight", etc . My advice would be that there are far better pizza places in town in both the service and food category - I'm not sure where they are but this ain't it. Pros: Got a table right away Cons: Pizza was poor - snobby, inattentive hostess more

Too cheesy 2/28/2008

I took my kids (8 yo boy and 5 yo girl) to Luisa's for the first time tonight. Services was excellent. Clearly this is a family friendly place, even providing small pieces of pizza dough to occupy the younger kids (at least for a while). Based on the reviews I had read, we ordered the garlic bread with the marina sauce as an appetizer. The dish came out quickly, and was quite tasty if not somewhat basic. I also ordered a salad with was good. The pizzas took a very long time, something like 30 minutes for so. The kids got bored as the pizza dough began to dry out. When the pizza did arrive, I was a bit disappointed. I expected a fantastic, smokey, crisp crust, and it might have been except for all the cheese weighing the pizza down. Mounds of moist oily cheese appeared to inhibit the crisping process. The only other issue of note, no small pizzas. I asked the waiter about this, and he said that the pizzas were very thin so that the pizzas were not at big as they seemed. Of course, when you add all that cheese, hard to tell how thin they were. We will try and go back and look for pizza options with less cheese to allow the artisanal crust to shine through. The brick pizza oven itself looks magnificent standing right in the front of the restaurant with the wood fires banked with in. I thinks the kids and I would have liked to sit around it, like at a sushi bar, watching the chefs putting the pizzas inside, and the pizzas cooking, bubbling away in that intense, hot, smoky interior. Unfortunately, the restaurant is not set up that way. Pros: Good family friendly service Cons: Too much cheese more

Very disappointed! 3/8/2007

I was really looking forward to great pizza given how people have raved. Service was extremely slow. Very sparse salad for $3.49 although the muffalatta dressing was good. We waited 8 minutes for silverware after our salad came to the table. When our pizza finally came, it was cold. My husband stood in line for 10 minutes to PAY when we left. The waiting area was pure chaos and people standing everywhere. This is my first review and I hate it had to be a negative one. I was so disppointed that I had to write. I hope this was an "off" night but I doubt I will spend another $75 to find out. more

Can you say PIE? 11/7/2005

A friend took me to Lusia's 7 years ago and I can't get enough. I only wish they were in Huntersville so I didn't have to wait 20 min to get there! The pizza is really the best I have ever had. It is always cooked perfect, service 2nd to none and you never have to wait on Saturday nights. Their busy night is Friday (5-10 min wait) but we prefer Saturdays to avoid the wait. Don't pass on the garlic bread w/sauce, you'll get hooked too. Everyone I have taken there has become regular customers. Check it out, you will not be disapointed. Pros: Great sauce!, Best Pizza, hand tossed pies Cons: Center city, only one location, close at 10 Fri/Sat more
