Best

Had a great time! Loved the atmosphere, food and service. Can't wait to go back! I am new to Milwaukee and some people from work took me there. Tuesdays' may be La Perla night!

Worst

After being seated outside on the ""patio"" which we had specifically asked not to be seated in, we froze outside throughout the night. The food served looked like it might have ...

Margaritas 1/18/2004

La Perla's original margaritas are the best I've had anywhere. A real adult drink! Pros: reasonable prices, good food, the best margaritas Cons: parking, parking, parking more

it's an ok place 8/17/2003

it's an ok place. not a place to go to celebrate. i'd say u go there if u r busy or something. Foodwise i had better at El Rey. Cons: parking, crowd, service more

disappointing! 7/31/2003

After being seated outside on the ""patio"" which we had specifically asked not to be seated in, we froze outside throughout the night. The food served looked like it might have tasted good, had it been served hot. The waitstaff was very friendly, unlike those who greeted us. But the mood of everything was ruined by all of the young children that were seated around us. Pros: waitstaff, inexpensive, margaritas Cons: slow service, food quality more

Unauthentic 1/5/2003

Avoid eating at La Perla if you're in pursuit of *real* Mexican food. I'm a Texas resident and a married-into member of a Mexican-American family. This food is NOT representative of Mexican food. The sauces are heavy on tomato paste and salt. They lack flavor or creativity and reminded me of my mom's ""hotdishes"" (casseroles for the non-Minnesotans). Skip La Perla and come on down to Texas (or West St. Paul). more

great food 1/2/2003

La Perla's atmosphere will make you feel like you are in Mexico enjoying their fine cuisine. The ambiance is very relaxing after a long day at the office and the decor is, well, rather sexy. All of this and you probably do not even have to pay with a credit card. Rummaging around in your purse or wallet will be enough to foot this bill. And remember, don't forget to ride the red pepper and have your picture taken before you make your way back to the car. Pros: atmosphere, inexpensive more

WOW 10/28/2002

I was skeptical the 1st time I ate @ La Perla. I was amazed @ the quality of the food and low price. The atmophere is fun and inviting. La Perla quickly became one of my mot favorite retaurants in Milwaukee. more

Good Time Had By All 10/6/2002

yep... it was crowded and noisy, but I had a good time and enjoyed my food... the drinks were good too! oh, and the service was pleasant. Pros: Good Food & Drinks, Fun Atmosphere Cons: Gets pretty crowded, & Noisy more

Ugh! Give me a break! 10/2/2002

Dined with friends as a celebration. Give me a break! The place was overcrowded, noisy, cramped, and the food was terrible! We were seated on the ""patio"" in plastic furniture. The wait staff kept bumping my friend in the head when they passed by. The person clearing the table was rudely reaching across us while we were dining...it was just a horrible experience. I won't ever go back to waste money on food that awful! Pros: None! Cons: Bad food, Bad service, Too pricy for quality more

great food and service 7/29/2002

La perla is the perfect place to go with family or friends for great food and drinks. The staff is friendly and always on top of things. This is one place you will never leave hungry. The portions are big and the chips never run out. If you're looking for authentic mexican food and a great time La Perla is the place to go. Pros: great food, great prices, huge portions Cons: waiting more

Doesn't live up to the hype 7/12/2002

My friends and I went to La Perla for dinner before going to Summerfest. The service was slow, the food wasn't very good and the margarita's were watered down. We sat on the patio and as we walked through the restaurant to leave, I was suprised by the noise in the dining room. I don't know how anyone was able to carry on a conversation. I was very disappointed and won't go back. more

La Overated 6/13/2002

advertising can do a lot. and kudos to this restaurant for bringing plenty of crowds to the south side. but c'mon.... the food is mediocre. the place is very crowded. the margaritas are poor. pass on this place. head over to acapulco, tres hermanos or La Fuente Cons: mediocre everything, long lines more
