Ken & Candi's Bbq

Great food here, the service was a little slow but waitstaff was obviously new. It's hard to fault a locally owned business for slow service - Good Help IS HARD TO FIND! I've noticed that it is usually the complaints that get aired on public media such as this, not any of the rave reviews. I think public media is used for venting rather than commenting, except for those folks who are "webheads." ....overall, good place for BBQ and great sides like potato salad and slaw. After making reservations for 17 and receiving a confirmation phone call from the establishment, we had awful experience at the Bbq. Waitress was friendly and tried to serve but we were told that there was a new cook. Our party was a mixture of adults and children as young as 4 yrs old. To my horror, I watched every single adult being served before all the children were taken care of. I have never in my life in this country had a dining experience like this. Adult meal was received and gone before the 4,6, 7 yr. olds were given their chicken fingars and mac'n cheese. It took 3 corrections to get it right, once my 4 and 6 yr olds were served any food. I split my dinner with the children which came out luke warm. I didn't dare ask to have it returned to be heated for fear of not receiving it for another 45 minutes. As I was up giving my food to the children, the manager came in and asked how it was!! When I explained the problem I was told it was because they had 2 parties there. Remember they knew very well to expect us as they confirmed the reservation. I was compensated for the childrens meals but we will never go there again or recommend it.. The one star rating is being generous! Oh, also several in the party didn't even leave before having terrible stomache pains! Food was decent, and good portion sizes. However, on a Sunday afternoon, the service was so slow. They apollogized our waitress was tending to a big party. The food came out quick, but then the waitress never came back to accept payment for the bill. First impressions not so great at the new location. Service and food need a little work, I would chop it up as a new location growing pains. You can find across the street from Enmark and McDonalds, near the corner of Highway 17 and Chatham parkway, AKA Oggechee Road and Chatham Parkway.
