Islands Fine Burgers & Drinks

Islands is a fun place to take the family. They have a fun, tropical and action sport theme going with tv's all around the places showing surfing, snowboarding and wake-boarding videos. The food is good and the prices are average prices. Overall, good place to go if you are looking for a good burger at a low-key sit-down restaurant. more

I just had my first Islands esperience and it was great! Ambiance: The look and feel of the resturant was great. It really helped the place live up to it's "Islands" name. The seating was a bit squished, but that's because we had six people on a four person table. Food: Servings were huge!!! The burgers were about the size of my head...ok maybe smaller, but it wa still big. They have great combinations. My friends and I each got a different burger. I highly recommend the Kilauea, Pipeline or the Toucan. The sad part is that you have to order the fries separately, but it comes in a huge basket, more than enough for 2-3 people. Service: A bit slow. Took like 10 minutes to get my hot water. But the servers are very friendly. Other: Lots of parking. If you go around lunch or dinner times, you may need to wait a bit to get a table. more

Islands is one of the few off campus options for UCSD students without car transportation, and I have a lot of fond memories from freshman year there. It has many more non beef options than any other burger place I know, and everything I've tried on their menu is delicious. The prices are a bit higher than normal for burgers but worthwhile for their large size, all the fixings, and great taste. They also have my favourite version of oriental chicken salad and a great deal on a giant plate of tasty fries. The island atmosphere is also quite fun, and service has always been excellent. more
