THE WORST GYU KAKU EVEERRRRR...My Girlfriends and I are VERY frequent/regulars at the Gyu Kaku in Pasadena on Green st. but i came to this huntington branch for my friends birthda...

You have got to try this location! 1/28/2007

I have been to a number of the Gyu-Kaku restaurants, but I recently moved to Orange County. For those that live in the OC, you probably know restaurants are lacking. I was thrilled to find out Gyu-Kaku was opening a restaurant in the OC. I went a few weeks ago and I can't wait to go back! The staff was great and really friendly. The managers stop by each table and make sure your dinner is going well. Customer service was outstanding and the food was even better. For those who have never tried Gyu-Kaku, you have to try the managers suggestions listed at each table. The ahi poke is to die for! more

Savory food, great atmosphere, and quality service! 1/27/2007

The branch in Sherman Oaks does not compare to Gyu Kaku in Huntington Beach. The service here has been warm and friendly, the food is delicious and the drinks are good. You wouldn't think it by looking at the outside of the restaurant but the interior is surprisingly big, yet the atmosphere is perfect for a romantic date if you don't mind a bit of occasional noise when the staff yells out commands and greetings in Japanese. more

Best service in OC! mouth watering dishes! weekend reservations a must! 1/27/2007

So my friends and I love trying new restaurants and one of them suggested Gyu-Kaku. We all like Korean BBQ so we gave it a whirl. The night began with our server asking if it was our first time and then explaining the menu and portion sizes (a la cart / sharing styles). He also told us that our meal would not be brought out all at once but in waves, which was a good thing because our order was a lil too much for our table to handle. not only did our server aid us in cooking procedures but the entire staff did as well. It was pretty cool how the staff engaged with the customers. Pros: Great food, warm service, chill atmosphere. Cons: Not for young children but very accomodating. Not for nonadventurous or impatient people. more

Best new restaurant in HB 1/27/2007

I was blown away by the decor there. Contemporary, hip, and happening. I loved the music they played there too. No R&B or Pop, a plus for me. The food is amazing!!! The taste is wonderful especially since you grill the meat yourself. I never did that before, except BBQing. My girlfriend could not get enough of the Spicy Avocado salad, I personally just ate lots of meat. The Premium Kalbi melted in my mouth, and the tare sauce on it was just perfect. The best part of eating here was by the staff. They took us in and explained things so well to us that I felt that the next time I come in with my friends. I can do all the ordering and look like an expert. I have been to Japan and the one thing I missed about Japan was the service, this place is the closest thing I have seen here in the US with that kind of service. Oh and make sure to make reservations or else you might have to wait. I hate waiting. (>.<) more

Great place to start off celebrations or a night on the town! 1/27/2007

I really enjoyed the prompt and warm service at the Huntingbeach Gyu Kaku. Our waitress was particularly helpful in explaining the various types of meats and marinades, making it a fun and enjoyable experience for myself and my party. I loved cooking my food to my exact specifications AND not smell like it after I left. I highly recommend this place for all sorts of occasions. Great way to start out the night on the town, with its stylish decor and ambiance. Pros: Service, menu choices, ambience Cons: too little time and stomach capacity to try everything in one sitting more

Be your own chef! Impress Mom, Dad, Friends, and the ladies! 1/22/2007

Dining at Gyu-Kaku in Huntington Beach was truly an experience for the senses. From the contemporary Japanese environment to the delectable menu items, our experience was one to remember. Pros: Get to cook everything to my liking. Lots of variety. Great place to bring a date, family, or friends Cons: There arnt more locations in orange county more

Best Japanese Food in Huntington Beach! 12/20/2006

What a cool restaurant! Channel 4 recently did a story on this new restaurant that opened in Huntington Beach just off of Warner Avenue and Beach Boulevard called Gyu-Kaku. I went with some friends last night to check it out. I highly recommend it! I never knew the concept of Japanese Barbeque actually existed what?s even more exciting is that the customer is the chef. I totally thought I would burn my food but the servers are amazing, they walk you thru every step. A few suggestions, make reservations, try the Harami Miso,Shrimp Garlic and the Garlic Friend Noodles. Pros: Great service, easy to park, the food is always hot, great value, check out their happy hour spcials too! Cons: None! This place Rocks! more

Finally Gyu-Kaku made it to OC! 12/13/2006

Whenever my boyfriend and I are in LA we?d eat at Gyu-Kaku Beverly Hills however finally they opened in Huntington Beach. The decor is stylish but warm their service is incredible and the food is still amazing. Service is really good here so if your not sure about something ask your server, they know everything. Happy Hour Specials are different than in LA, but cheaper prices are always better anyway! Pros: Easy parking, great service, good portions, great quality Cons: Why did'nt you come to Huntington Beach sooner!! more
