STILL THE BEST ICE CREAM SPOT AROUND. ALL HANDMADE ON SITE. LIKE AN OLD TIME FOUNTAIN. I'VE BEEN GOING THERE FOR YEARS AND THE SAME GUY IS ALWAYS AT THE COUNTER. (owners son?) A...

I watched Huell Howser and heard other glowing reviews of this place, (I thought worth making the trek from Glendale) but was thoroughly disappointed. I tried my regular favorite...

a soft place to fall 5/7/2005

I've been a loyal fosselman's goer for 14 years. I could honestly say that I am literally addicted to their ice cream.(no wonder I'm so broke! heehee) I love this place, it makes me so warm and homey. I don't know about everyone else, but everytime I stepped into fossleman's, it felt like steppin' into an other heavenly place.... This is my soft place to fall. Oh yes, my favorite ice cream flavors are: English Toffee, Rum Raisin,Cafe Vanilla, and boysenberry sorbet. So darn....Delicious! Thank you Fosselman's. Pros: Rich, creamy flavors, inexpensive, to-go-pack more

It's the best, case closed!!! 9/27/2004

They've been in business for 80+years and handed down from generations of expertise....ice cream made the old fashion way or the only way, so to speak!! I'm nowhere near the history but I know good ice cream when I taste them (and I ain't over weight either) This is indeed the best ice cream (please don't even bring those ""Haagen Daz"", or incompetent corporate ""supermarket"" brand up)!!! Always stack and load ""2"" half gallons (Coconut Pineapple, English Toffee or Mango in my freezer). Pros: Original, Real Ice Cream more

Made on-site! 8/13/2004

Fosselman's ice cream is so well-made. I think the flavors are a bit delicate compared to those in other shops, so you'd do better to have one flavor at a time. If you decide to get a sundae or banana split, you'll find that even the toppings are delicious! Stepping into Fosselman's is like stepping back in time. Take the kids. Pros: Quality, Value more

Simply The Best! 6/11/2004

The flavors are fantastic, the portions are generous, the service friendly and the atmosphere very homey. Any weekday or evening this place is brimming with customers. The local restaurants know the quality here and some of the better ones feature Fosselman's Ice cream. It's a treat to go and worth the trip every time. Pros: great ice cream, lots of flavors, even fresah sorbet! more

The blueberry's my favorite 5/28/2004

I stop here every time I have my car tuned up. The quality of the ice cream is excellent, and I'm a sucker for blueberry. I don't know of anyone else who carries this flavor. If you're looking for an exotic flavor, and made the right way, look no further. Prices here are a bit better per scoop than the other ice cream places. Pros: The best ice cream, Good value more

Best Ice-Cream Ever 5/19/2004

My favorite is taro ice-cream that I couldn't find it in any other place. Most of their ice-cream taste much better than any other ice-cream store. Pros: Many Varieties, Inexpensive, Good Parking more

AWESOME! 5/19/2004

My husband and I have been going to Fosselman's since we were in high school (20 years) and we just can't get enough. Nothing compares to the wonderful flavors they offer. They always have a flavor of the month. My son loves the black licorice (October) and I love the pumpkin and we all love their good old fashioned hot fudge sundaes. They don't skimp on the servings either! They also carry an assortment of gold old- fashioned candy. The word has definitely gone out because it always so busy. Pros: Inexpensive, Big Scoops, buy a quart to go Cons: , Poor parking, There's only 1 store more

Ice Cream 10/5/2003

For the BEST, you have to travel to Bert&Rocky's or Dr. Bob's (both in Upland), but Fosselman's hits the spot closer to L.A. My favorite is the hawaiian-white coconutty MACAPUNO, but chocolate diehards will want to try the DARK CHOCOLATE, which tastes like Cocoa in a can. Banana Nut is a winner, kids will like the clown cones, and the cakes are great. Note: The take-home half gallons have more air and are not as creamy and rich as the scoops in the shop. But they still hit the spot! Pros: $1.95 a cone, $5 half gallon, plenty of flavors Cons: Grouchy when crowded more

The best! 7/2/2003

They make the best ice cream whether you eat it there or take a half gallon home with you. The sorbet is great, too. It is full of flavor, not like some of that frozen sugar water you can buy in the grocery store. more

Great Ice Cream 6/5/2003

but poor parking and too darn busy! Price is reasonable for the excllent quality. more

2nd best to Double Rainbow 5/31/2003

Fosselmans has a store in Alhambra, and is sold in some other places. Double Rainbow has 2 stores; one in Van Nuys, and one on Melrose in Hollywood. I would rate Double Rainbow slightly higher, and you can get it at Trader Joes.. Coldstone Creamery, Citysearch's higest rated ice cream place is pure crap and far to trandy with tgheir ""mix-ins"" compared to either. Aromi cafe in Van Nuys is just accross the street from the coldstone creamery loaction in Van Nuys, and their gelato and sorbetto (the don't have ice cream, but gelato is close) blows away Coldstone Creamery Pros: old fashoned place, 2nd best in LA Cons: parking, long lines more

can't go wrong 2/6/2003

plenty of flavors to choose from. quality product. best traditional ice cream in L.A. more

Perfect Ice Cream 12/5/2002

They'll make anything you want, and everything's wonderful! They also have candy. The service is wonderful, and they should be supported because they are family-run and have been around for so long. Check out the pictures and items they have on display for a history lesson, too! more

Creamy Comforting Ice Cream 8/20/2002

comforting, soothing, and creamy ice cream that has broght back the good old days... YUM! Pros: inexpensive, good hang out place Cons: parking more

Best in the West (actually best period!) 8/3/2002

How wonderful it is to still have a family owned business that has been enjoyed by so many generations and that has such outstanding service and ice cream! Their ice cream cakes are the best also. Truly an old-fashioned ice cream parlor. We also have enjoyed their ice cream at some of the local restaurants and those are the only restaurants where we would order ice cream. Their capuccino ice cream is the best! Enjoy with friends or by yourself -- it is habit-forming! Pros: Personal service, outstanding ice cream, step back in time more

Nothing beats the old fashion style! 7/26/2002

This historical ice cream shop make the best tasting ice-cream around for any price. Beats anything out there. Lots of special flavors. Pros: Inexpensive Cons: Parking, Location more

really the best 7/19/2002

unlike any of the chains, in fact, unlike most of the ice cream parlors in town, Fosselman's makes their own ice cream and it is great. Try Toasted Almond or Cappucino. Their non-fat frozen yogurt tastes unbelievably rich. Seasonally, they have flavors like Fresh Peach, Pumpkin, Licorice and Date. Take a trip back in time and visit this classic American ice cream parlor Pros: toasted almond, cappucino crunch, espresso ice cream more

Scream Queens 5/14/2002

Besides being the only independently-owned ice cream parlor in L.A. to churn out its own product, this Alhambra shop also stocks a variety of Asian-influenced flavors, like lychee, macapuno and ube. Traditionalists shoudn't worry, there are also 5 chocolates and 4 vanillas. Over a dozen sorbet flavors are also available. more
