She crab soup and Muffaletta, must haves for me. more

Blah... 6/30/2010

The food was blah and the service was worse. We watched a couple seated after us get their food before we even got our drinks. I wouldn't be as upset with an apology, but the waitress didn't even recognize our long wait. I will not return to this restaurant, although many of my friends love eating here. Pros: Location Cons: Food more

Decent food but lacks attention to detail 3/14/2010

I have had some great specials for dinner and breakfast but overall I would rate the food as average. Could easily be a much better if the staff put a little more effort and care in the details.. For instance my breakfast eggs were undercooked and no real cream or butter for coffee and pancakes.. all ultra processed dairy packets. Pros: Great for families and atmosphere is welcoming Cons: Attention to details and mediocre food more

On weekends see the bartender Ben 1/29/2010

Great food, breakfast is amazing and served all day, I love their she-crab soup, it's to die for. Anything you want to substitute or a request to make your meal better they are more than happy to accomidate. On weekends go to the bar and see Ben. He has been working there for the longest time and is super friendly. He knows exactly what he is doing. Having trouble figuring out what you want?\r Ask Ben. He has gone to school and studied for that exact thing. Need suggestions for a good drink? talk to him and he can mix anything up for you. Want to know anything about wine? Ask Ben, no one knows more than he does. Pros: Ben more

bad service 11/20/2009

I just went there last Sunday and there were a lot people. The atmosphere was ok, but the server was just rude. She didn't come by after I order, and when I wasn't even finish my 1/3 of the plat, she thew bill on my table. Ya, not ""place"" or ""put"", but thew on my table. Then when I was half finished, she came by and knock on my table, and when I looked at her, she just turned her face away and left. I was so mad and can't have anything anymore. So I paied and left. \r The food, special omelet, wasn't so good. I don't know why every table ordered it. The toasts were over done, with butter leaking out, and the potato with onion just so greasy and lack of flavor. The seasoning was just nothing far from the rice we got on Mex. plate. The egg cover was even organe! and was having sausage and avocado inside. with a lot of cheese. Well, if you like such things, you will be pleased. But for me, I was at Charlotte over the weekend and was expecting something different than what I can get from TX. Pros: easy to find location Cons: not as good as people said more

A reliable and safe choice for breakfast 11/23/2008

Meal reviewed: Breakfast\r Eddie's Place is a reliable and safe choice for breakfast. The service is excellent and the food is very good. You can expect the standard breakfast fare with a few specials . I highly recommend that you arrive before 10:00 am on weekends for breakfast - Eddie's is very popular and you can expect to wait awhile if you arrive any later than that. Pros: Good food, excellent service Cons: Long waits, average atmosphere more

Best breakfast in town 6/2/2008

Always a great experience. Good prices, good service, the wait is never too long. It's home-cooking at its best. more

Great Sunday Breakfast 2/16/2008

In a city with almost no good Sunday breakfast choices, Eddie's is a standout! My family enjoys breakfast every Sunday at Eddie's. We've been going for nearly 10 years now and hope to keep the streak up for as long as we can. more

Menu Has Everything! 11/26/2007

This is just the greatest little restaurant that serves everything! My kids get breakfast every time we visit, no matter the time of day. The she-crab soup is the best I've had anywhere. And I tried it all over Boston just to compare. No comparison! I love the shrimp and grits here too. Their salads are about the freshest I've had anywhere, with a big variety. Shrimp salad is very tasty and ample. The booths have been reupholstered, and with the new smoking time frame, is one of our favorite, regular restaurants to visit w/ kids. Hey, did I mention how good the she-crab soup is???? Pros: Great variety of food; very kid-friendly Cons: Milk only comes in skim or whole - but they will mix it for you if you like. Wish there was a bigger wait area. more

Nothing Special 9/29/2007

I went to this restaurant with my husband to have breakfast since it won the best breakfast 2007. I was very disappointed because, portions are too small. The steak for instance looks like it belongs in a kids meal. The eggs and the pancakes were good but nothing really to crave about. The service wasn't bad, but you can easily tell that if you are not a white soccer mom like the ones the place is full of, they won't treat you as good. I've definitely been into better restaurants and I've had better breakfasts. more

Best Local Brunch Place in Charlotte 9/17/2007

Eddie's was recommended to me by a friend. We went there around 11 am on a Saturday morning - big mistake...Everyone had already gotten the brunch memo. This local place is packed with customers during the weekends. Their coffee is amazing and so is their food. The waiters are friendly and they serve the best egg and chorizzo breakfast wrap (if you're so lucky to find it on the menu). Every friend of mine is guaranteed a weekend brunch at Eddie's when they come to visit. Great Place, GREAT food. Cons: small facility - somtimes there is a long wait more

Great local atmosphere! Great food! 8/23/2007

New to Charlotte, looking for a great breakfast place... (I'm not sure, some ""Best of"" lists, show Hardee's as #1)... so... wanted to try Eddie's Place...\r \r This was a nice neighborhood restaurant with local flavor. Sat up at the bar for Sunday brunch as there was a wait outdoors for inside tables... the staff was very friendly, and the food was great.\r \r Happy that it is non-smoking as well! Will definitely return. more

Relaxed atmosphere 5/30/2007

The place is really lay'd back, a casual atmosphere. It does remind me of New Orleans - not the Bourbon Street tourist type NOLA, but the Uptown, lay'd back parts of New Orleans. Come hungry - portions are generous. A plate of fried oysters is plenty to fill you up, without any appetizer, and enough to take home for the next day. We like the one on Sharon Amity; there's another one in Ballentyne, but it's less homey, less welcoming. Very reasonably priced, too. Pros: Large portions, good atmosphere more

Great Breakfast esp. with Kids 11/8/2006

This place has a great breakfast-""creative"" homestyle food. Portions are substantial, well prepared and promptly served. Staff is attentive. We did not care for the smoking however it is to be non smoking in 2007 and then we'll be sure to return to Eddies. Pros: Food-portions and quality. Cons: Smoking. more

Great Breakfast! 10/25/2006

We went on a crowded Saturday morning & were seated fairly quickly. The food was great & the cheese grits were wonderful! A good energy & great food. more

Good Food, Great breakfast 8/7/2005

Good Eats! Breakfast had everything from pancakes to a crabmeat omlette. The service is quick and you're in and out in 30 minutes. Highly Recommended! Pros: Good Eats, friendly staff, imoderately priced Cons: average atmosphere more

Good Breakfast 6/13/2004

Convenient and good eats! If it's not on the menu, ask and they'll probably make it for ya... Breakfast is big and the coffee is good. Try the hot dogs for lunch all the way... the fries are awesome. Also the grilled veggie sandwich actually has some FLAVA... Pros: Inexpensive, Cheap, Ambience more

Great! 11/28/2002

We always enjoy Danny's Too! Their omelettes are great, the she-crab soup is exquisite, and their specials are always ""special"" (in the good way). If you go back more than a couple of times, the waiters will remember you and make you feel ""special"" (in the good way). Pros: creative cuisine, excellent service, convenient location Cons: N/A more
