  • **How are Appointments Scheduled?**

Our office attempts to schedule appointments at your convenience and when time is available. Preschool children should be seen in the morning because they are fresher and we can work more slowly with the child for their comfort. School age children with a lot of work to be done should be seen in the morning for the same reason. Dental appointments are an excused absence. Missing school can be kept to a minimum when regular dental care is continued. In a practice limited to care of children, all treatment cannot be done after school hours. Certain appointments, types of care and patients are better managed during morning hours. We realize that occasionally this may inconvenience some parents, but it is the child we must always consider.

**Do I Stay With My Child During The Visit?**

We welcome the parents or guardian to accompany the child for the first visit. Studies and experience, however, have shown that most children over the age of 3 react more positively when permitted to experience the dental visit on their own and in an environment designed for children. We are highly experienced in helping children overcome anxiety. Separation anxiety is not uncommon in children; please try not to be concerned if your child exhibits some negative behavior. This is normal and will soon diminish.

    **What Is A Pediatric Dentist?**

A pediatric dentist has special training in the oral health and dental development of infants, children, and teenagers. A pediatric dental degree requires an additional two years of study following the four-year dental degree. The special training allows pediatric dentists to provide the most up-to-date treatment for a wide variety of children's dental problems.

Pediatric dentists are also trained to treat special patients who may have emotional, physical,or mental handicaps. We maintain state-of-the-art quality by attending numerous continuing education sources.

We recommend your child's first official appointment at age three. If you have specific concerns,at any age,we will be happy to consult with you and your child to resolve any questions or dental concerns. Our entire staff is dedicated to providi ng thorough and gentle dental care. We strive to make each child's dental visit as pleasant as possible.

Before any procedures are started,we show and tell your child what we are going to do. Occasionally,a child may cry during some part of the visit. This is normal behavior and usually the child will work their way through it with our compassionate coaxing.
