Poor Customer Service 4/3/2008

We came in at lunch time on a thursday. We had to waiters that took our order 3 times didn't get it right. The order for tea had to be placed multiple times and finally the waiter had to be reminded to bring it by. The food quality was good but the service was a huge deterrent. Pros: Intersting menu and good food Cons: Really bad service and is located in a stinky best western. more

Great, Fresh, Food- if available. 2/21/2008

After reading all the great reviews, we decided to check this place out. Located inside the Best Western in Milpitas, there was ample parking, and the decor was really nice. Pros: Great Food, easy parking, complimentary herb naan, fast seating. Cons: Not all items on menu available. More selection would be nice. more

Excellent customer service & culinary skills- The ambiance and small details are worth every minute and cent you spend there... 11/8/2007

My new favorite Indian restaurant 10/1/2007

Great quality food, flavorful curries (sauces), attentive service, and complimentary naan, and this naan is the best I've ever had. That's why it gets 5 stars. Pros: delicious food Cons: not in a ritzy neighborhood more

Great Indian Seafood 9/24/2007

We were delighted to see all of the seafood options here. The mussells and crab cakes were great, although the crab was a bit salty. The Mahi Mahi curry and stir fry prawns were wonderful, both were cooked perfectly and the prawns had a wonderful texture. All of the dishes had their own distinct flavor. VERY GOOD!!! Pros: Seafood options, great naan more

Wonderful Indian restaurant 8/31/2007

I didn't think the location was as odd as everyone makes it out to be. It is slightly off of the main rd (calaveras blvd), and It is in a hotel, but most hotels have restaurants. Although, I will admit that this restaurant is much, MUCH nicer than the hotel it is attached to. Upon entering you know right away that this is not your average Indian restaurant. It gives off a very modern vibe. It doesn't at all smell like curry when you walk in. Service is friendly and very helpful. And best of all the food is fabulous. We had perfectly cooked lamb chops with a wonderful flavor and mouth numbing chili chicken with piping hot fresh naan. The menu is limited at this small restaurant, but everything on the menu looked good. more

Not Your Typical Indian Restaurant 8/16/2007

My husband and I ventured to this restaurant for dinner last week and were completely delighted with what we found. Our first impression was great, it is the first Indian restaurant I have been to that cheerfully greeted us when we entered. We ordered the mussels to begin the meal and they were great! They tasted so fresh. For entrees, we had the aachar chicken and the salmon dish. We were a little unsure of what to order, but our server was very friendly and informative and knew the menu front and back. The menu was a bit short, but I like the idea of smaller menus because then you know the food is fresh and made to order. It's really too bad that this cute little restaurant is hidden where it is. I highly recommend for Indian food. more

Good Place but not much of vegetarian choices 8/15/2007

Went here with a very special person. Was definitely romantic. The presentation was good. Nice silverware and plates and the tiny wooden cup in which the salt was served was the best part! Pros: Presentation gets an A+. Cons: Not much variety for vegetarians and tough to spot. more

Delicious!!!! 8/14/2007

You gotta love a restaurant that tells you a dish is spicy and REALLY means it. This is one of those places. We ordered three things that were labeled spicy, chili wings, chili chicken and karahi lamb. All three were wonderful, the wings were mouth numbingly spicy, but still full of flavor. Naan is free, well it comes with all entrees, and you can choose between herb naan or plain, the herb is the way to go. Cool decor and great service. Pros: great food Cons: location is odd more

Great INDIAN Restaurant! 7/18/2007

First off, I guess they have changed the menu around because this is an Indian restaurant. Not all that fusiony, not pan-asian, straight up Indian with a couple of Indo-Chinese dishes. The prices seem high at first, but include unlimited fresh naan, rice, raita, chutneys etc. Naan is really good, perfect texture. Butter Chicken, Gobi manchurian and chili chicken (more like chicken 65) were all awesome. Lamb burgers, one of the few fusiony dishes, were delicious. Service was friendly and professional. I like! Pros: Food, service, ambiance Cons: As stated by everyone else, very odd location. more

Have lunch here. 7/11/2007

I stumbled across this gem with some coworkers last week and I will definitely be going back soon for dinner. Our lunch was tasty and the helpful wait staff was eager to please, making our meal a real delight and a true break from a hectic work day. Although we enjoyed all our food, the crab cakes were a standout. The light fluffy cakes were served piping hot with a mouth-watering sauce. So, when you go, make sure to order some of the crab cakes and, while you?re at it, pair that with some of their refreshing iced tea. Happy eating! more

Great food, great service, friendly faces 6/27/2007

I just decided to drop by the Spice Route last Friday and was pleasantly UNsurprised. I had a feeling walking in that the food and service would be spectacular, and the Spice Route certainly came through! The place just opened pretty recently and is located off the beaten track on the first floor of a Best Western, so it doesn't have the crowds now that it will have when this little gem is discovered by the rest of the flock. The food was fantastic. I tried a few items off of the dinner menu and enjoyed all the offerings, but I highly recommend the mini lamb burgers. I think it was the first time I have ever eaten a burger without putting on any condiments or other fixings - the meat was so perfectly seasoned and cooked that putting on anything else would profane them. They also have a full-size lamb burger on the lunch menu that looked delicious, and I will be back for it soon! The menu is a little limited right now, but the place is new and the menu is expanding as they experiment with new dishes - if you're lucky, they might just make you a guinea pig for one of their experiments! The service was great, and you won't wonder why when you come by - the owners are behind the bar and in the kitchen, making sure your experience is the best possible. You can tell that they take great pride in their new restaurant and that the Spice Route will just keep getting better and better. The ineterior of the restaurant and its ambience would make it perfect for a date or just a night out. If you're in the Milpitas area, or even just driving by on nearby 880, I highly recommend you make a stop at the Spice Route. Pros: Food, service, ambience once inside Cons: Location: not easy to find more

A Wonderful Surprise 6/26/2007

This was a Citysearch find. I must admit that when I pulled up to the hotel I had my doubts, but upon entering my worries were gone. It is a beautiful, very clean restaurant inside, with great mood lighting, fresh flowers and candles. The menu is small, but covers a lot of ground. The naan was incredible (and free!)Scallops were wonderful served with spicy wasabi potatoes. Swordfish was nice and spicy with lots of fresh herbs. This is a real standout in the South Bay dining scene. Pros: food and service Cons: hard to find more

A Milpitas Restaurant That's Not A Chain!!! 6/20/2007

So I decided to try Spice Route, since it's pretty close to my office. I dropped in for lunch and tried the lamb cobb. I was interested because it seemed like an interesting mix, and it was. The lamb was very tender and spiced to perfection. They also put, among other things, jicama, which was delicious. (I've decided more restaurants need to use jicama.) The server told me that the lunch sandwichs are all served with a jicama, apple, and cucumber salad, so I had to try a little taste. Loved it!! Anyway, it is in a random location in Milpitas, but if your in the area, it's your best option. more

Great Food 6/15/2007

New restaurant in the area. Nice, simple, elegant, upscale setting Pros: great food, friendly service Cons: wierd location more

Delicious Food 6/1/2007

Located at the space that was formerly Curry Leaf/Bombay Cafe, this new restaurant is a gem. I've been once for lunch and once for dinner and both meals were terrific. The lunch menu is mostly salads and sandwiches. I had the Lamb cobb, it was very hearty and had a delecious combination of flavors. The chicken on the Thai chicken sandwich was very tender, great sandwich all around. more

Great hidden find 5/31/2007

Stumbled on to this place in a best western hotel. Nice, modern decor makes you forget where you are though. Great food! Mini lamb burgers were super tender and full of flavor. Crab cakes were huge and very tasty, the sauce was great. Salmon has a crispy coating but was melt-in-your-mouth soft inside and the sweet and sour tamarind sauce was great. Service is attentive and friendly. Pros: Great food, parking lot on site, nice ambience Cons: limited wine list, no desserts more
