When I heard about this place from co-workers I was expecting more, boy this was a let down. I order a cup of jambalaya. I was more than disappointed. For a place who purpose is to service Cajun food, it needs to have a half way decent jambalaya. It was mushy and bland. I could barely eat the jambalaya because it tasted as if it was nuked in a microwave. The only reason I finished my cup of jambalaya because I spent almost six dollars for a cup. I felt I was obligated to finish. I am only glad that I did not pay for a whole 10 dollar bowl of Jambalaya. The Cajun fries that everyone was raving about had very little Cajun seasoning. The only thing that the fries had going for it was it was cooked properly nice and crispy with a good amount of salt. This restaurant should stop calling its fries Cajun until it get some good Cajun seasoning on it. For the crawfishes that everyone was raving about it was plan and simply not great. They were small and expensive. It cost 10 dollars for a 1 lb bag of crawfish and there is not that much meat to eat. The crawfishes where covered in sauce that I know I could find better one at the nearest Safeway or Lucky's.
The service was either below or average. I could use more personal attention, but in this valley having any personal attention from the wait staff is lucky. However,i wish the wait staff knows how to give me a separate check without giving me a whole explanation of why they can't.
The only thing that went right for me was the beer. I guess the only reason why it went right was that Crawdad King did not have to make my beer from scratch. Let us not for get about those clean bathrooms.
If I asked to come back to this place. I would simple said "NO" There are better Cajun restaurant in Silicon Valley.
I am only guessing why anyone remotely want to go to the Crawdad King is to give up there money for overpriced food that don't taste that great.
Pros: Bathrooms are clean and plent of parking
Cons: Jambulya is bland and mush, the crawfish is small not a good sauce
