Nice local joint. Burgers and what not here. I've only been here once since I wasn't wowed, but it's always packed inside and outside on the patio. Ample parking on street and lot behind. Vegetarians tell me the place has a lot of options for them. Me, I had the burger and salad. Like I said, it was okay. more

I actually like this place. The food is not bad and certainly very reasonable. To Mattman123, you go to the Cheesecake factory and the meal will cost you twice as much. To awfoneb, you talk about Coral's not being a Christian place to bring your family, they should refuse service to you, your profanity is a disgrace in the same paragraph asyou talk about Christians more

Old place. Awful food. 10/8/2011

I do not understand why this place gets the business they do. Because they are nearby, I've given them four chances in the last three years - multiple attempts to try to figure out why it has not been shut down. The place looks so old and feels so filthy I would expect to see a cockroach running by while I was there. I Never did though. For such an old rundown looking place, you would think there must be *something* appealing about it. I must say that every visit was consistent. the wait staff has been ok. They give you a huge plate of food. Even the kids meals are huge. The food is terrible. So all you are getting is a lot of terrible food. Fried foods are really greasy. There is nothing tasty about most of the food. It's what I would expect out of an old diner in the middle of the desert in Arizona. The salads are wilted. The cooked vegetables taste like they are from a can. I even asked the waitress one time if they were from a can. She so they were not. If that's true then they must murder the vegetables. The green beans are dark green and mushy. Yuck! But here is the surprising part. The bill is about what I would expect to pay at the Cheesecake Factory, which has WAY better food, service and looks much nicer and newer. I don't get it. Why do people eat there? Policemen seem to enjoy the place. There are always police cars parked out front. If it was my choice, I would have the place torn down and replaced with something nicer. I brought my kids there one night and there was an old German guy and a Jewish guy eating together. He was cursing and swearing at the German guy for what they did in WWII. Then the Jewish guy would sob from time to time. It was like two nut cases right out of the insane asylum. I finally had to move to another table so the kids would not hear all the swearing and have to witness this really strange event. Then, I got the $50 dollar bill for the three of us and that was the night I swore I would never eat there again. Burbank did a great thing by bringing in Porto's. They need to do the same with this place. Tear it down and put in something more palatable. Summary: old place, bad food, expensive, ok service. more

crap hole 12/19/2010

A SH*T HOLE!!!!! I was sitting at the count read the paper waiting for my food (if you could call it that) when a man sat down while talking on his cell phone. He had his ear plug in so his was talking to the air. After about 5 minutes of this I turned to him and ask if he could go out side and talk. The man told me go F*CK myself, and then to go F*CK my mother very loudly. Well I call for the Owner and the Owner said there was nothing he could do (WHAT AN A*SHOLE THAT OWNER IS). This owner not only sells food that is SH*T. But has his head is so far up his A*S that his brains are full of SH*T. He should of just ask the man to finish his call outside. What needs to be done here to correct this place is; (1) A CHANGE OF MANAGEMENT (2) THE PLACE TORN DOWN (3) A PARKING LOT PUT IN ITS PLACE. DON'T GO HERE. RUN AWAY AND STAY AWAY. THIS IS NO PLACE FOR A CHRISTIAN FAMILY TO BE!!!!!!! A note to the A*SHOLE Owner now. Until 1,2&3 can be done and for the poor people who have to eat the sh*t you serve. Put up a F-ING sign on you door ask customer's to go outside when on their cell phone. more

Open 24 hours, convenient but lacks consistancy 2/2/2009

It's a real shame how the Coral has such a varied menu with a wide choice of selections but they are seriously lacking in quality control. I never see either Mr. or Mrs. owner eyeballing any of the food that comes out of the kitchen to make sure it has appeal and appears to be cooked correctly (and one of them is usually there). My family has eaten there many, many times for years and recently the quality and consistancy of the food has just gotten worse and worse. I could go there 5 days in a row and order the exact same breakfast and I guarantee that it would be different each time. Not to mention the time that my wife and I ordered the same breakfast on the same day and they looked like two different plates. You get either eggs that are over cooked, under cooked, hashbrowns sometimes ok other times burnt. Someone needs to get a real grip on matters here. Can't remember the last time I had dinner there and the baked potato was actually hot. Wilting lettuce with brown edges served in the entree salads. Forgetting the avacado or the hard boiled egg in their salads on occaision (they weren't out because I questioned them and they brought them right away and this has happened more than once). Getting seated in their back room only to be forgotten by the wait staff and waiting for more than one should just to get your drinks ordered. All of this is really a shame and disappointing because I'm sure the owners probably never go on line to see what people are saying about them and they'll probably never change all this unless people just start down right complaining. This is why we've made the difficult decision not to eat there any more, what a waste when there is so much potential here. Pros: Large Menu, open 24 hrs Cons: inconsistant food due to no quality control more

Average Coffee Shop, good value 11/26/2008

The food here is only average, although it is a plus that they have a very large menu, so there's probably something on there you'll like. It's just a coffeeshop, so don't expect fine food. But for the most part, it's all right, and reasonably priced; convenient location, open all the time. more

BestChickenFriedSteak&HashBrowns... 10/20/2008

Ev, my husband took me to this 24hour American dinner in Burbank on a Friday night and although I found the place not to impress I truly fell in love with their breakfast menu especially the Chicken Fried Steak w eggs. I've been to many chains such as Chilis, IHOP etc...all of them have the same dry, tasteless chicken fried steak but Coral Cafe was fresh tender, juicy and oh so good. $7.75 includes three eggs ( I would recommend them poached) and don't forget the ""heavenly"" crispy hash browns. I was so impressed with the place we returned for a second time 2 days later and I ordered the same thing but the waitress got my order wrong and instead of chicken fried steak I was served chicken fried ""chicken"". The wrong order was so good I decided to keep the breaded tender juicy chicken breast. My husband had the chili in the bread bowl which was not too impressive, the bread was stale and the chili was too thick but the second time around he ordered the burger in the pita bread which was ""okay"" the fries that came with his order where awesome, which made up for the ""okay"" tasting burger in the pita bread. I would truly recommend this place since I can see my husband and I being patrons of this establishment for years to come. \r \r Cordially,\r Ieda Andal , PA-C\r \r PS Stay away from Chili bread bowl and avoid the tea cakes or just make sure you get a freshly baked one because the one we get seemed dry and tasteless. Pros: Open 24 hours Great American Breakfast Menu...ChickFriedSteakWithEggs Cons: Avoid ChiliBreadBowl more

Breakfast was a disaster 9/13/2008

First impression there was an old man that sneezed so loud and so hard without covering his mouth as he passed our table. At this point we started feeling a bit uncomfortable there but we wanted to give the place a chance.\r Our order:\r Eggs Benedict, Vegetarian Omelet, side of pancakes, one black coffee.\r \r Eggs benedict, the hollandaise didn't resemble what hollandaise should taste like, it tasted like water, and looked like chicken gravy, included were also hard boiled eggs not poached, and burnt ham steaks not Canadian Bacon and the hash browns were two inches thick but soggy inside, totally gross. \r Vegetarian omelet add spinach with ""planks""?? \r Burnt eggs and in some areas eggs were watery, totally regretted requesting the spinach. I swear they took a block of frozen spinach and threw it in the omelet, the planks turned out to be deep fried potato disks, which were very greasy.\r \r Both our toast were cold and hard.\r The pancakes were cold and hard and definitely not fresh!\r \r I decided to take a sip of my friends coffee and mentioned I could taste her lipstick, she said I'm not wearing any!!!\r \r \r THIS PLACE DOES NOT JUST HAVE BAD FOOD IT IS GROSS!!!!\r \r Pros: Smoking tables out back but it stunk, to close to the dumpster. Cons: Very bad food. more

One of the few Burbank landmark restaurants still standing 11/6/2007

I've been eating here almost since it opened when I used to go with my parents. I'm in my 50's now and I still dine there with my own family. One thing that I will say though, since the Coral was sold by Danny and Irene, the original owners, it's never really been as good as it was then. Back then all the food was just like home cooked, now it seems like most of the food is cooked from packages or cans as opposed to all fresh ingredients. My family are still regular customers but some things have changed since. Even though they offer a vast menu covering all types of food, there are some meals that just don't cut it. Stay away from the fried chicken, it's usually overcooked and dark brown and not too pleasant to eat (I think they're using frozen chicken). They're breakfasts are average with plenty of choices but they have a tendency to overcook the eggs. I ordered over easy eggs and they came over cooked and browned, more than once Unfortunately, this makes the eggs taste burnt. When I requested that they do not brown my eggs, they came with runny whites. As a cook myself, my conclusion is that they have the heat too high for the eggs because they're trying to cook them too fast. Some of the dinner choices are below par so my advise is to choose something that you know you like or you may just get an un-satisfying meal. Every time I have ordered a baked potato with my dinner, it has never been hot, just barely warm, who knows why? I say, send it back! The service, can be good or not, one time you'll get a great server and another time you wonder where they went when you need something and your server is no where to be found. All in all, you really can't go wrong here, you just need to make your choices wisely. The prices are definitely fair and reasonable. The owners here just need to tighten up on the help a bit and consider improving their quality control on the food they serve. If they try hard enough, who knows, they just might make it like back in the old days. more

Decent Breakfast on a budget 3/23/2007

Coral Cafe in Burbank is a great place to have breakfast with the 'locals'. Unassuming from the outside, the place has easy parking in the morning, and a decent wait staff who treat you right. Belly up to the counter and share the morning paper with a fellow diner as the events of the day are discussed. This place is worth the drive, worth the time, worth the money, and worth a try! Pros: Its a diner Cons: Its a diner more

Best chicken tortilla soup anywhere 3/21/2007

I love the food at Coral cafe. My favorite is the chicken tortilla soup here. I have tried chicken tortilla soup at many other establishements in the Los Angeles area and they just don't measure up to Coral cafe. It is really flavorful. The other items on their menu are also good, but the tortilla soup stands out. I also recommend their breakfast menu. The staff at Coral is also very friendly. It is the kind of place that you can go to at any hour of the day and you will get great service and really yummy food. A lot of variety. more

Great Late Night Food with Huge Menu 1/6/2007

The Coral Cafe was a great find as we were looking for a place to eat late in the night. They had a huge menu with a wide variety of items to choose from. My wife got a huge salad that had lots of fresh tasty vegetables and added a large piece of salmon for only $2!! The breakfast was pretty much on par with what I was expecting for a late night diner and the pancakes were tasty. This place is much better than a Denny's or Bob's Big Boy!! Pros: Great Food, Huge Menu, Friendly Service, Cheap, Parking Lot, Open 24 Hours Cons: Boring area of Burbank more

good service. good food. open ALL THE TIME. 11/14/2006

the food here's good. the people are nice and the service is quick. the menu is reallly big, so it's hard to make a decision sometimes. their tortilla soup is good and so are their sandwiches. the portions are big, and you'll like the food. if you come late @ night on a fri or sat, expect to see/hear lots of drunk people. more

Old faithful 8/13/2005

Coral Cafe is great if you're in the mood for hearty, greasy, heart-attack specials. Don't get me wrong; the food is tasty & comes in plentiful portions. But it's definitely not for the health conscious. I like their take-out, too - they are very generous with all the fixings you'd need for a picnic. Recommend staying away from their chicken. We ordered the pasta primavera with chicken and chicken fajitas - the chicken was so tough we couldn't eat it. Otherwise, a good bargain. Pros: lots of variety, large portions, great soups Cons: greasy, run-down more

Relaible 6/28/2005

We love Coral Cafe. The wait staff is generally pretty friendly and the good it great. As 24 Hour diners go this is top notch, only once have I had mediocre food and I will forgive them many times over for my other visits. The trick to finding the place is to look for the sign that would say coral cafe if it worked, but it doesn't, or at least didn;t when last I was there. Pros: Reliable good food Cons: morning parking canbe, tough more
