The bar is large, just-bright/dark-enough, and friendly, with it's most distinguished feature being the variety of music offered up during the weekend.
The Story
If Cignas' wasn't squirreled away on one of Lawrenceville's least traveled streets you'd probably never get a seat there. But as luck would have it, at least for the consumer, this neighborhood place is something of a well-known secret. Most Pittsburghers-at-large become aware of it through the good-natured plugs by KDKA Radio personality John Cigna, the father of the namesake and owner.
The Food
The thing that brings them in and keeps 'em coming back is the grub. Though the "largest fish sandwiches in town" are a dime a dozen, Cignas' offers up plenty of bite behind their bark. The Cod Father is a whole filet of cod-nearly five times as long as the hamburger bun that sandwiches it-and it's as tasty as it is big. They also offer fish in the more petite Cod Mother. The familiar land-based menu items are good, if sometimes greasy.
