If you go to Capristos ask for Breanne Kochmanski! The first time I went I was incredibly surprised that she spent as much time as she needed to on fixing my damaged hair. She was not in a hurry to rush me out, but instead she took her time in order to get an excellent end result. Regarding the cut, she really listens to what it is that you want. And with respect to color, she does an absolutely amazing job! Before going to Breanne my hair color has never looked so healthy along with accenting my skin tone. My friends and family immediately noticed a difference in my hair after I started going to her. Just as an added bonus, she is so easy to talk to, and she's hysterical - which makes the entire experience more enjoyable. For as long as I live in Pittsburgh she is the only stylist I will go to! more

I was referred to Kim by a good friend when my regular hair stylist (from another salon) moved away. Kim really knows her stuff! She takes time to talk with you and tells you what cut and color will look best with your face shape, complexion and personality. She'll even flip through magazines with you to find inspiration if you are unsure of what you want. She takes her time and puts so much thought into her clients. I recently moved to Pittsburgh and was apprehensive about having my hair cut and colored by someone new. I made an appointment with Kim and immediately felt at ease. She asked enough questions before she even started to color my hair. Despite the salon being busy, she really took the time to understand what I wanted and gave me very natural highlights which is what I requested. I am very happy with the color and cut and will only let Kim do my hair in the future! Pros: Great color and cut. Cons: Sometimes behind schedule. more

I recently made a visit to Capristo salon to have a redo. It was winter and I needed a pick me up desperately. I made the appointment to have make up, eye brow waxing and my first ever pedicure. Paula was my pedicurist and also did my make up and waxing. What an awesome experience. My eyebrows looked absolutley perfect. My feet were feeling wonderful, and the color was just fabulous. I almost didn't recognize myself. I recommend Paula and Capristo salon to anyone who need a new attitude and outlook. Paula was very proffesional, and yet we had a good time. The salon is great, and has a very comforting atmosphere. Everyone friendly and polite. I will definatly return and perhaps maybe next time just for an indulgence rather than a complete new outlook! Where to begin about this fabulous lady! I consider myself a picky client when it comes to most things. I'm not throwing the money around here, so I want to feel like im getting the professional service that I'm paying for. Finding the right person to take care of my hair is important to me because its such a personal thing...right so rarely, wrong so easily. She takes the time, each time, to assess where you with it all, NEVER balks at way-out-there questions or concerns, and always suggests without making you feel like your being forced. Perfect example: As a 38 year old, I am beginning to see changes in my once youthful head of hair. Shy about permanent color because of the horrid growth line you see so quickly, she directed me to demi-permanent color which has all the benefits of permanent while providing an oh-so-wonderful softer line that inevitably happens. Woo Hoo! love it. When expressing this concern, no one else, not one stylist , in any city that I have lived in over the years, has ever let me know this was an option! What's up with that! I could go on and on about what makes me choose Breanne as my hair stylist.. I leave you with this last amzing benefit of sitting in the chair of this professional, smart and personable stlyist : You know when you get to the styling part of the hair cut, and you KNOW your going to have to go home and do it again because no one else can get it quite right the way you can? Breanne is the ONLY person who gets it SO RIGHT, that washing my hair almost is a mournful thing. I always try to plan my visits to her so I can go at least 2 days before her beautiful work has to be washed away. How about them apples? Hands down she's the best in Pittsburgh. There's a saying that a girl knows shes at home in her city when she finds great mechanic and a great gynecologist. I'm going going to have to add a great stylist to that list. My boyfriend lives in Pitt, (I live in the New York area) and I was in desperate need of a waxing. Hesitant to go anywhere in Pittsburgh I turned to citysearch.. I read reviews for Shelly and figured Id give it a try. I was amazed!! She was absolutely amazing, better than Bliss Spa, better than my regular waxing at home. I have now officially swiched to rely on Shelly (and hope my boyfriend and I don't breakup otherwise it will be a very expensive waxing).. After such an amazing experience with Shelly, I thought id do the same thing when in need for a hair cut.. I found Roman on citysearch as well. For the cut, color and not to mention unbeatable price. My boyfriend got me a gift certificate to get my nails and hair done at Capristo before a formal event we were attending at my law school. Kim styled my hair for me and she did an amazing job. I went in, gave her a few words about what I was thinking for my hair, but basically left it up to her. She did an incredible job. I got so many compliments on how great it looked. I have been going elsewhere to get my hair cut and done for years now, but I switched over to Kim immediately. She is very talented and has a wonderful personality. I'm going today to get my hair cut by her! more

First time at the salon, I went in for a brazilian wax and facial. Shelly knows what she is doing,. You would think there is not much to a brazilian wax. I have had this type of wax before, but I felt less pain and more comfortable with Shelly. She is very knowledgeable on everything she does. I had a facial and my brows done as well. I HIGHLY recommend Shelly. I am from NY & pay at least $250 for a brazilian & facial. I was referred to Shelly from my friend, and it was the best experience. I wouldn't trust anybody else in Pittsburgh, besides Lydia at Capristos, to do my eyebrows. She's been doing my brows for about two years, and every time she transforms them into an "eyebrow masterpiece". Lydia should be doing movie star's eyebrows; Pittsburgh is lucky to have someone like her. She is also very friendly and sweet. Absolute worst experience I have had at a salon. I was kept waiting for 35 minutes. No one apologized and the owner - Roman Capristo - who was cutting my hair, did not seem to notice he had left me waiting. No big deal, right? The shampoo was pleasant. I told Roman to trim the hair overall and I wanted to look modern/sophisticated. He was barely paying attention to what he was doing. Made several offensive remarks about other patrons of his salon, as well as some generally offensive comments in general. All of this - personality, lateness, etc. is forgivable in my mind if you get an excellent cut. The cut was horrid. To the point where it was uneven (and not in a good, funky way)! Plus he fried my hair with a curling iron, applied a ton of product. Half the time he wasn't even looking in my direction while he cut my hair! I honestly am not sure if he was stoned or something. That would be an excuse at least. I had to go to another salon the next day to get my hair fixed! Maybe this was a freak occurrence? I don't know. And I won't be going back EVER to find out. I have been going to Capristo Salon for about 7 years now and would not dream of going anywhere else while I live in Pittsburgh. If you are looking for a salon/stylist, I would highly recommend going to Kim at Capristo. Kim is seriousy a color genius. She has been doing my high/low lights for years now and I consistently get compliments from people on my color. Kim has a real eye for what will best compliment you. Kim is a true perfectionist when it comes to hair and as such she is frequently going to NYC and Toronto for classes so she is skilled in all the latest styles and techniques. I am a very picky person but I have complete faith in Kim and her abilities. I have never left the salon feeling anything but beautiful. Kim rocks!! I wasn't sure if I was going to get good results after the last blog, however I took my chances as I needed a cut and color at a moments notice and they had an opening. I think that Roman did a wonderful job. I said a few things about what I wanted and he (in 1 1/2 hrs) gave me the best cut and color I have had EVER. Not only did he treat me as though I had been going there for years, he also had a "perfectionist" quality about the way he cut my hair. I felt so important! The staff is really great and though the prices may seem a bit steep, I think it was completely worth it. I usually have a hard time finding a stylist that I like, but I don't think I would trust my hair to anyone else. I had to wait for an hour for my appointment. I arrived 10 minutes earlier, and they did not tell me I would be waiting for an hour! Roman was the absolute worst, BORING! I asked him to cut layers, and he didn't listen. Instead, I got a trim for $60. This place is NOT WORTH THE PRICE! Roman talks the talk, but does not deliver. Roman is so full of himself and loves to brag how great he is. I wanted my bangs that are growing out to be blended into my hair and not look so choppy, Roman made them look choppier! I had to ask if he could angle it more. I would not go to him ever. I'm willing to pay big money for a great haircut, I'm not willing to pay big money for an awful looking cut! more
