Best

Good food but free parking can be a problem but there usually is pay parking.

Worst

Cafe Pierpont's chicken enchiladas were the worst I've ever had. They were filled with dark meat chicken that tasted like it came out of a can and even had a bit of a fishy taste...

My Take on Cafe Pierpont 10/10/2002

While I enjoyed the ambience at Cafe Pierpont, I would not rate it the #1 Mexican restaurant in the Salt Lake valley. It is expensive and the food, while good, is Americanized. Pros: good ambience Cons: not enough parking, crowded, expensive more

I like atmosphere as much as the food. This restaurant has both. The Burrito Grande is as big as a loaf of bread...no kidding. Pros: atmosphere, classy, delicious Cons: parking more

blah food 9/19/2002

The food at Cafe Pierpont is not very good and lacks much flavor. I really disagree that it is our best Mexican restaurant! Pros: bland food more

A fantastic fiesta! 8/20/2002

Cafe Pierpont has great food and a great atmosphere. If you have a large group they have no problem accommodating you. Pros: Good prices, Good Atmosphere Cons: service, parking more

Mex Fest 7/26/2002

Cafe Pierpont is always hopping! They have an excellent outdoor dining area for people watching. It is very centrally located downtown. The food is not only great, but very large portions. They have a burrito so large that if you eat the whole thing you can come back and get one free! Overall this is my family's favorite Mexican Restaurant. Also little ones eat free! Pros: Family Friendly, Large Portions, Great Value Cons: Parking, Sometimes Crowded more

Pierpont Rocks! 7/25/2002

Pierpont is one of the best places to take children, it is festive (no one can hear your child screaming), the portions are huge, most children under the age of 6 eat free and the price is right. Serivice is outstanding. We have had the manager's personally come up and introduce themselves and ask if we need anything. We love Red Iguana, but in this poll we are going with Pierpont! Pros: Kids eat free!, Huge Portions/Value, Excellent Service Cons: Parking more

Energetic Mexican Restaurant 7/25/2002

My family and I have been enjoying the excellent Mexican food at Cafe Pierpont since it's opening in 1986. The mood is festive, the food is plentiful and the margaritas are the best! Pros: Festive Atmosphere, Value, Large Servings Cons: VERY large portions more

Mexican wannabe! 7/23/2002

If you like expensive americanized burritos, taquitos, enchiladas, etc., then this is the place for you. However, authentic mexican is the only way for me. Small, self-owned (ghetto to the average person) restaurants is the way to go if you want the ""real"" stuff. more

Best Mexican food around 7/21/2002

Enjoying Mexican food is what this restaurant is all about. The food is very authentic and tastes great. Atmosphere is a little loud but come with an appetite and you won't be disappointed. I have never come here and gone home hungry. Fills you up with the best tasting Mexican food you'll find. Worth any drive to taste this food. Pros: Great tasting food, Value for money, Good service Cons: Terrible parking more

Still hanging on... 6/27/2002

This used to be packed all the time, but the crowds seems to have subsided somewhat the last few years -- even to the point where they usually offer bargain-priced early dinners. The food is consistently good here, but never great. There are some authentic-tasting dishes, but most of the menu is packed with American-ized burritos and the like. But kids love it and it's noisy enough so nobody gets bothered. Pros: Good for kids more
