Cabana On the River

My husband and I went down to the Cabana on the River for a drink and food Friday evening. The four people at the hostess's stand very rude. We were standing there for a period of time and was not greeted. They didn't even made eye cotact until I said something to them. Then one of them said they had alot of people to seat and couldn't tell us when we would be able to get a table. We went to the bar for a drink. Again the lady behind the bar didn't look at us. My husband ask if he could get drinks. She nodded but didn't look at us and went to the other side of the bar. Another guy came up who was little younger and ask for drinks which she got them right away. This bad service will make me think before going back. This place is fantastic if you want a beautiful scenic view overlooking the Ohio River and Northern Kentucky. Very casual atmosphere. Nice place to watch a sunset while having a casual drink or dinning. They just added a new bar in the front? It kind of has a resort bar feel to it, but the parking lot takes away from the image? HOWEVER TRUTH BE TOLD? outside of the ?flair? to the atmosphere, the food and drinks are WAY OVERPRICED. A 12oz domestic beer is $3.50 and a shot and mixed drink(s) can run from $4.50 to $7.50. But they serve the mixed drinks in a small 8oz plastic cup so you?re not getting your moneys worth for the price. The food is not fresh. You can clearly tell that it comes pre-packaged and or frozen. They simply open it, heat it and serve it to the unsuspecting customer who?s about to pay twice as much more than it?s worth. Also, the waitresses tend to take forever getting back to your table to check on you for refills or to see if you need anything. They?re a bit unaccommodating at times. Outside of the overpriced menu and the un-anticipating waitresses The Cabana is a nice place to hang out with family and friends. I personally recommend that you try to get seating along the Riverview. I only go when the check is being split. I?d go more often if they lower their unrealistic price. If you are not seeking upscale dining, this is the place to be. My mother and I were looking for a place to eat before heading back to Indy, and decided to stop and take a look at the first restaurant in sight. After walking in, we new instantly that this would be a fun place to eat. Great food, nice people and a fun place to watch the boats go by and the beautiful sunset. We had a birtday party of about 30 people and the band was great and so was our server Julie. The owner also bought our group a round of drinks and alot of bar owners or managers don't . In the Summer, I love this place.. I really don't mind the wait, (which can be long..) as you can sit comfortably and enjoy a drink on the patio. The food is fantastic. But come hungry because they give you huge portions. I'd never heard of the ""cabana"" until a friend told me about it. I've never seen a review on this place either, but apparently it's not a secret anymore as they seat about 250 people and you have to wait for a table almost every night.
