I purchased my wedding gown from BT and initially the experience started off as a good one, then after a few months everything that could go wrong did: 1. My undergarments went missing and I was told that I didn't purchase them when I did and I had the receipt. 2. My bridesmaids were over charged by over $150 for dresses that I had already received quotes on. 3. My headpiece wasn't ordered and when it was ordered and finally arrived (just a couple of weeks before the wedding), it was the wrong one and I had already paid for it. My mother and I never argue and we argued the entire time we worked with BT. It doesn't matter if you are nice or rude to them because when I was nice everything got screwed up and when my mom was rude everything got screwed up. By the week before my wedding I actually was waiting for them to tell me that my dress disappeared because that is how badly things were going. It was an awful and stressful experience and really not worth the hassle, I advise everyone to go elsewhere!!! more

Service was wonderful. They were willing to work with me and really wowed my mom who is a tough cookie. Ordered my dress and will update when it comes in for alterations. Update: The dress came in and IT IS PERFECT! Jody and Julie helped me on a busy Saturday to have alterations done at the same time my mom, godmother, and maid of honor could see it on me finally! Jody knows her stuff and was able to pin everything and gave me great advice for undergarments. Julie made me feel like a long-lost best friend! She looked like she could cry when she saw me in my beautiful Ambrosia by Maggie Sottero. She loved the little accents and accessories I was planning on. Both Jody and Julie wanted me to look perfect on my wedding day and they were just the experts I was looking for while also adding that personal touch and helping me to become even more excited about my wedding. Jody was able to quote a price for total alterations and get things rolling quickly. Really affordable! I was expecting to pay so much more! Totally recommend them!!! :) more

I bought my wedding gown, bridesmaids dresses and mother of the bride/groom dresses at Bridal Trousseau and absolutely loved them. The service was awesome - Lisa, Jodi, Tim, Paula and Sondra were all so helpful. Very friendly service and I never once felt pressured to buy. They made sure I was 100% happy with my dress and worked with the seamstress to make sure everything was perfect (seamstress was also fantastic). I stopped in several times without an appt and they were very accomodating. We also hired Lisa to do makeup for the wedding party and to help me with the dress and it was the BEST decision. She was there the whole day and made sure everything was perfect. Highly, highly recommend Bridal Trousseau. more

Three years later and I STILL think about how much this place ruined my wedding day...Rude, inexperienced, and my biggest regret is ever stepping foot in this place. The place looks great, designer dresses and all, but it's all smoke and mirrors. PLEASE TRUST ME! more

My daughter ordered a Matthew Christopher gown 9 months before her wedding. It arrived much later than promised and it was much too tight (she's size 8 and had lost 10 lbs). When we asked how this could have happened as we were told at the fitting that the gown would be custom made according to the measurements taken, we were rudely told that the gown was not custom made but it had a custom hem. They also told us that the gown would stretch. We took the gown to an independent seamstress to correct. My daughter had also ordered a headpiece and satin gloves when she ordered her gown. The headpiece came in 3 weeks before the wedding and NYLON gloves were sent to her 2 days before the wedding. When we called to say they were the wrong gloves we were rudely told that we didn't know the difference between satin and nylon. After spending almost $4,000 at their shop, they never tried to rectify any of the problems. The whole experience at Bridal Trousseau was very stressful, such poor customer service and bad attitudes. They don't even deserve 1 star, they deserve a 0! more

I would highly recommend anyone who is looking for a wedding gown to go to the Bridal Trousseau you wont be disappointed the owner and staff couldnt be any nicer and they were honest and very knowledgeable. And made you fell special and they didnt preasure you at all. They had a great selection of dresses and they were very helpful. more

This was to be one of many stops for us, but it was the only place we needed to go!! My daughter was looking for her wedding dress and I was looking for that - oh so hard to find mother-of-the-bride dress. Lisa and Sandra were unbelievable. They asked us a couple of questions as to our style and taste and then proceeded to line up at least a dozen dresses for each of us to try on. One more beautiful than the next. Their honesty and industry knowledge was almost the best part, but we must tell you, the very BEST part was walking out of there with dresses we absolutely LOVE and without going over our strict budget. Go ahead, grab a cup of coffee and stop in - you won't regret it and I'll bet you find something beautiful. more

STAY AWAY!! All of the bad reviews are right. I had a TERRIBLE experience at this place. Lisa, one of the salespeople (and co-owner) was rude to me on numerous occasions - even making snotty comments about how long I was in the store one day. She is impossible to deal with and even felt that it was her right to berate me in relation to a misunderstanding about my dress payment. I couldn't get out of there fast enough. If I had known I would be treated like this I never would have bought my dress here. Wedding dress shopping should be pleasant. No dress is worth the treatment I rec'd. I would recommend driving the extra hour and a half to NY (great cust service including thank you notes and follow up calls) or 30 minutes to Mariellas (Rocky Hill). Making Lisa a co-owner was a huge mistake. She is terrible for the business' reputation and has unbelievably bad customer service skills. Other people have more stressful jobs than being a wedding dress salesperson and still manage to treat people with respect. I would not recommend this place to any of my friends. All of the dresses they sell can be found at flagship stores in NYC. Lisa needs customer service and anger management classes. more

Good: My daughter and I had been in several bridal shops but my daughter hadnt found "the"dress.We walked into this shop and described what she was looking for.The first dress they brought out was the one my daughter fell in love with.From that point, everything was exceptional.They were friendly, attentive and helpful throughout the entire process.Alterations were fabulous.They never made us feel rushed and my daughter always left there feeling special. This is the place to shop for your dream dress.. Bad: Loved everything. Sorry we missed the new shop.They moved in as we picked up the dress prior to the wedding.. Improvements: None needed. more

As any bride-to-be will tell you, the dress shopping experience was either the best or the worst part of the planning process. I have seen the worst (at a certain chain store), and probably the best at Bridal Trousseau. It is a small shop, but don't let that fool you. The ladies who own it will find you exactly what you want. They are very knowledgeable, and can really help you decide what looks right on you and what just isn't your style. You really feel special when buying your dress here, and it more than makes up for the price you will spend! (All wedding dresses are expensive though) more

Getting married? This is the place to go for your dress. The staff is very dependable as well as knowledgable in their field. They aren't overpriced like many shops are, and because they AREN'T a chain, they have all the hospitality and grace that you'd expect from a local store. They are in the heart of Branford, CT and are a smaller store. They have many catalogs to sift through as well as a smaller display of dresses that they have. It's a small store, but their knowledge and expertise and attention to detail are huge. They do brides dresses as well as the bride's maids dresses. more
