I have a heart murmur and up to 2007 the American Heart Association use to have guidelines to take antibiotics before a cleaning. However, this was cancelled in 2007, and every dentist I seen since then has never brought this up. \r

I went to Chestnut dental for my initial evaluation in June of 2013. The dentist asked me about my murmur and I told her the past history of how I use to take antibiotics as a child and stopped in the late 2000s. She never said a thing and asked me to schedule a cleaning. Well, I scheduled off work for that cleaning, drove 30 minutes there from my office, all to find out they would not clean my teeth because of my murmur I filled out on my paper work back in June. They said I need to go to my PCP for a clearance. Yet no other dentist would require this, and they never even bothered to tell me prior to taking off work. Most of all, they didn't even apologize for wasting my time and even charging me for the useless evaluation they gave me months before. This place is classless and unprofessional. They don't care about their patients, only their wallet.
