Kitchen Manager Attitude 1/3/2011

Having been to Bimini Twist many times (I live in Orlando, but travel to West Palm for their excellent pork chops), I was very upset with the visit I made with friends on New Years Day. The pork chops always came two to an order; but it seems that only one comprises an order now. I asked to speak with the Kitchen Manager, and he explained that instead of two 8 oz. chops, there was one 14 oz. chop, now. This was done because of the deteriorating quality of the former supplier's chops, he said. I did order the new chop on his suggestion, and found it to be every bit as good as the former ones; in fact, it was the same size and quality as each of the original ones. Bottom line is that he lied about the reason - if you're cutting back the quantity, own up to it. After waiting an appropriate time for my dinner, it came out cooked to totally the wrong temperature than I ordered. I sent it back to have it prepared correctly, and by the time it came back, everybody in my party had already finished their dinner. The manager brought it back with the explanation that the cook had a "bump" and had prepared it the way he had been taught. I explained that he should have more carefully read the server's order sheet, whereupon the manager again took the cook's part. After waiting as long as I did for my dinner, I would have expected him to at least offer somewhat of a dollar reduction, if not to totally comp my dinner; instead he brought out one dessert for all six people to share. Needless to say, I will not be going to this restaurant anytime again. more

Never again 5/8/2006

I used to take my entire out of town friends and family to Bimini twist for a really nice dinner. I would tell them how nice the people and atmosphere was and of course how good the food was. Until Saturday… I went in and told the front desk that I had 6 people in our party, all family from California, and one of the girls there told me it would be 35 to 45 min, and I got the pager to let me know when my table was ready, when I walked outside I realized that we were 7 instead of 6, so the girl told me it would be 45 minutes to 1 hour and I said OK since it was a Saturday. After about 45 minutes my wife went inside to check on our table and told them that we have been waiting for about an hour, the blonde girl who they said was the manager told my wife that we have NOT waited an hour and they were waiting for a large party to finish there desert and we would be seated. Well after the hour was over we went inside again because everyone was being seated but us, and also not one waiter went outside to ask us if we wanted drinks. If the blonde girl was the manager she is the rudest manager I have ever came across, she even told us if we did not like it to leave. I was so PISSED off I asked for the restaurant manager and it was her. I have been there plenty of times to see that they could have put together two tables and called us in but after about an hour and fifteen minutes that large party was still sitting at the table. At other less classy places the manager will normally apologize for the wait and maybe even offer a drink or an appetizer, but not her, her attitude and the way she was raising her voice at my wife and me and the rest of my guest was unbelievable and uncalled for. I will not step foot in this place and I will tell all my friends what happened and advised them that they might run into the same rude manager. I understand that places like that get really full on the weekends, but after seeing party after party being seated before you gets to be a little old. If the blonde manager was having a bad day she sould be Taught that you dont take it out on the clients. I am going to investigate how I can get a hold of the owner to let them know the terrible experience I had there on Saturday. more

nice restaurant 9/23/2005

This is a nice restaurant. There is indoor and outdoor seating. The lighting is soft, but the noise level seemed a little loud the night we went, which is fine with me since we had a baby with us. The food was good. I had the spinach dip and it was awesome. It could be a nice place to go on a date. more

Looks better than it is 8/5/2005

The ambience is great; beautiful interior as well as exterior, makes you want to sit and enjoy your meal. The food was okay; but mine came out cold. Actually I was in a party of 6 and everyone's meal either came out cold or luke warm. I think they wanted to make all the dishes come out at the same time but mismanaged their time and their heating lamps obviously weren't wokring that night. I would try it again, but since it's out west it's not my first choice of restaurant. more
