A Neighborhood restaurant to come home to 3/27/2010

Ever since our favorite Italian restaurant in Ballwin closed and we moved to the city, we've been searching for anothr ""our place."" And here it is, within walking distance from our townhouse on Delmar. We stopped in for dinner after walking to a concert at the Art Museum, and after a short wait, attended frequently by the owner, we had a light dinner: an appetizer, a salad, and an excellent glass of wine from their impressive well-chosen wine list. My sauteed sweetbreads, asparagus and oyster mushroom appetizer had a light flavorful sauce garnished with radish sprouts and cilantro. I savored every bite. My salad of marinated crisp whole beets, goat cheese, lettuces, and walnuts had a tangy vinaigrette that totally suited it. With a glass of excellent 2006 Domaind de la Garrigue Cotes du Rhone, I was in heaven. And then I heard someone nearby say ""bread pudding,"" one of my two favorite desserts. The Atlas bakes brioche dough and lets it sit for a day before making it into a bread pudding that is cooked when you order it. It arrives with fruit garnish and a raspberry sauce you clean up every drop. We both agreed it won't be long before we return and actually have an entree. Pros: Small, friendly service, phenomenal food Cons: Popular, have to wait for a table more

Great workers, wonderful atmosphere, and delicious food!! more

Was expecting a bit more from Atlas 10/28/2007

After noticing Atlas when we were out for a walk, my wife and I made reservations for dinner there later that week. When we arrived for dinner, we were seated promptly. Between the two of us, we had the mussels, lamb, pan fish, creme brulee, and three layer cake. more

Nice Addition to the Area 5/1/2007

I visited Atlas on a trip back to my home town of St. Louis with a couple of friends. We did not have a reservation (Thursday night) but they were able to seat us at the bar where you can order from the dinner menu. They have interesting wines and beers (Belgium ?Duval?) to choose from. We each ordered something different and both a starter and a main course. I tried the crab cake which was delicate and my main course was the pork chop which was prepared wonderfully with apples and potatoes. My friends ordered fish and pasta which were also pleasant. The prices are definitely reasonable and I would probably go back, although with a reservation. Pros: Price, Cuisine Cons: Interiors more
