14 Years and Counting Client - BEST IN THE WEST! 2/11/2009

Fourteen years and counting, my Husband and I are two of Jimmy's (the owner) best customers, making the trek willingly from Corona to South County as often as possible for the very best, FRESH, authentic Chinese food this very, very picky princess has ever imbibed! Long lines are the norm at lunch time each day and the food is not only fresh, but hot-as-lava and more than plentiful! The kitchen is open and all who enter this establishment can readily watch their meals being cooked in front of you!\r \r I am forever grateful to a work colleague who took several of us to lunch one day and introduced me to this unassuming little place tucked inside of a pleasant strip mall where many other restaurants (albeit not so busy) reside. \r \r Every meal Jimmy and his crew of Chinese cooks make is superb but our personal faves are the Black Mushroom Chicken Chop Suey (for me) and the Mongolian Chicken (for Hubbyman). The food is placed before you, steaming hot, within 10-20 minutes of ordering (even when they're super busy, which is most of the time!) and so plentiful that take-home containers are a must. The prices have always been and still remain very, very reasonable. \r \r Our only complaint - closed on Sundays. Imagine! :) Thanks, Jimmy, for taking such good care of us and feeding us so well for so many years. Here's to many more. YUM! Pros: Food, freshness, speed of service, portion sizes, prices! Cons: Closed on Sundays - awwwww . . . they gotta rest one day a week! :) more

Complete disgusting - threw it in the trash 6/13/2008

We got takeout for dinner from this restaurant. We had 6 items. After a bite or two of each item, we packed it all up and threw it out. Everything, including the vegetables, were excessively greasy. The meat was very questionable and rubbery. Several pieces of the sweet and sour chicken were just big clumps of breading with no actual meat in them. I would never go back again! The only good point was that the portions were big. Doesn't help much when it's not eddible. We opened one take out box and I said to my husband that it looked like pig slop. If you are looking for decent Chinese, try California Wok up Bristol by Palarino St. The prices are fair and it's prepared much better than this. Pros: Big portions Cons: Not eddible. We threw the whole order out! more

Chinese food lacking flavor 5/23/2008

I was looking for a great local Chinese Restaurant and decided to try Al Palace tonight after reading Many favorable reviews. I am truly Disappointed. The first thing that caught my attention is why the hell is the floor extremely slippery...Man, this place must use a lot of oil. The second thing, No people of Asian descent dining in the restaurant, that is a bad sign. We ordered 4 dishes. The War won Ton was very good, hence the 2. The Szechuan Beef was bland, No spice and oddly chewy beef. The Cantonese Noodles tasted off and Smelled badddddddd. The Orange Chicken did not have a crispy exterior but somehow the chicken inside was extremely tough. The chicken also was wayyyy past it's prime and I had to actually spitt out several pieces before giving up on this dish. Everything tasted as if it had been pre-cooked and stored in a refrigerator for the past month and then re-heated right before serving up this garbage. My wife said the meat smelled like a 5 day old homicide scene in Coachella. In August. Pros: Price Cons: Food more
