Huge Delicious Rolls 6/14/2011

This is the best sushi in Salt Lake, The rolls were about twice the size of alot of the sushi places in this area, everything was super fresh and seemed like they use higher quality ingredients than average, The rolls arrived really quickly we had a super sweet waitress. Recommended for sure :) more

Best Sushi Ever 5/19/2011

I did not like sushi all that much until i came here. Very warm friendly place. Rolls to die for. Be sure to try the spicy crunch or volcano. It's a bit of a pain to park, because of all the cafe rio people. be sure to go early. Also they recently changed their hours, listed on the door. great little tasty place. good place also to introduce people to sushi. more

Spend your money here! 4/14/2011

Best Sushi in Salt Lake 2/23/2011

Hands down, Akasaka Sushi (now named ""New Akasaka Sushi"".. more about that below) is the best Sushi in Salt Lake City. Their sushi and specialty rolls are a few steps above other up-scale sushi restaurants in Salt Lake City (for example, we love Takashi, which has better decor, atmosphere and appetizers.... but if sushi and rolls are what you are after, you will NOT be disappointed with New Akasaka) We ate at New Akasaka again last night and were blown away yet again (we had the Confidential roll, Hollywood roll, and Firecracker roll. All were incredibly fresh, and presentation was great). As mentioned above, they recently changed their name to ""New Akasaka Sushi"".. Do not confuse this with the ""Akasaka Sushi"" restaurant on 6000 S. and Highland Dr., which is a totally different place, different owners (I assume), and different food. I ate their once and it was NOT the same. The New Akasaka on 3011 E. and 3300 S. is the real deal for sushi and rolls. It's a bit of a hole in the wall location (in a strip mall by Cafe Rio), but you will be amazed with the sushi and rolls. more

My staple for sushi 1/21/2011

Akasaka is a quaint little restaurant with very good sushi. Some other reviews say it's worse than Mikado (I have been to Mikado Cottonwood, Sandy, and Bountiful) or Tsunami (have been to both Sugarhouse and Ft. Union numerous times) and none of them have the quality that compares to Akasaka. I haven't been to Takashi, and I hear it's wonderful, but I've also heard from those same people that Akasaka is second only to Takashi. more
