prefer packaged top ramen 12/30/2005

This ramen place doesn't have any clue to what friendly service means. Sure the usual chinese restaurants rarely have anytype of friendly service, but this ramen place barely even talks. When I wanted to order, the person simply brings his paper out. I told him that I wanted beef ramen. He just writes that down and waits for a few seconds to see if I wanted more. After that, he simply took away the menu. The ramen itself was alright, nothing too special. The soup base is slightly weird but its not bad. The noodles were great, but I'm sure they were using packaged noodles. Give it a try, the place looks clean. more

Can't You Make It Yourself 8/29/2005

It is almost without a doubt that the ramen noodles served here are basically instant noodles. Obviously they don't simply boil it and add flavoring, but with a little effort and vegetables anyone can make 'Ajisen Ramen'. That is not to say that their other selections are just as simple. Some of their rice plates are worthwhile such as the Japanese Style Fried Rice. more

Instant Noodles! 8/28/2005

Many people see Ajisen Ramen as top of the line, good quality food. At a somewhat expensive price, you can get a bowl of ramen that consist pork, veggie, and other ingredients. Now many people would think that the ramen was made fresh, but recently when i went roamin around the back of the restaurant, i saw a truck unloading tons and tons of instant noodle boxes. Now im not 100% sure of what they use it for, but the noodles are really yummy for being instant noodles. Must try place, but you might feel ripped once you find out it was instant noodle. just like me. more

Tasty but not so great experience 8/28/2005

Ajisen Ramen was another whim on dinner plans in Los Angeles. My boyfriend had seen it before and wanted to try it out, so we dropped in one evening. The food was delicious, and I loved the spiciness of my rice dish, but unfortunately I had a horrible reaction to it afterwards. My boyfriend was okay, so perhaps it was an isolated bad coincidence, but I might be a bit hesitant to test that theory. more

Be prepared to wait for a table at this noodle shop. Located in the shopping plaza adjacent to the new Hilton Hotel on Del Mar, this place always has people waiting outside. Although I personally do not think the food is worth what you pay, the quality if not bad. I have had the noodles with tenderous ribs. You can also get it over rice if you prefer. They also serve rolls and appetizers like gyoza. Parking can be difficult, but there is an underground lot. more
