I found myself heading to an out-of-town convention for work. My daily work-wear is jeans and a t-shirt, so I haven't replaced any of my business casual and dress-wear since a house fire last year destroyed my entire wardrobe. I'm 5'3 with a 29 waist and 29 inseam, so I'm a pretty small guy. I couldn't find anything in any department stores around town, and on a friends suggestion I went into Porta Classica. I expected the typical Men's Warehouse sort of greeting and a rush to sell me the first thing on the rack. I was pleasantly surprised at the courtesy I was met with when the salesman greeted me as I walked in the door. The smallest size they had on the rack was a 30 waist, but they were able to tailor the waist, inseam, and taper down to a perfect fit in only an hour and a half time. They had two pants on a sales rack which happened to be in my size, but one had a just slightly noticeable stain. There was nothing they could do about that, but in lieu the manager offered me free dress socks (about a $7 pair), which considering it was only a slight blemish on the pant, I thought to be quite reasonable. Three shirts, three ties, three pair of pants, a belt, and tailoring for right at $200. I really can't recommend the place more, based on my own experience there. I'll be headed back in to grab a couple suits when I get back from my conference next week.
