The last time my husband and I stepped into a Roadhouse Grill, was back in '99 when we were in Mississippi. I remember the food was good, the service was good, and the peanut shells were everywhere on the floor. LOL For my birthday, I decided I wanted to try one here in Ohio, and see if it was just how I remembered. We looked at their website online to see how kid-friendly they were, and once satisfied our kids would have some good grub to eat, we were ready to go. I must say, first and foremost, it is not every restaurant that opens the door for the customer as soon as they step out of their car. I opened my door, and let my son out of his car seat. I stood back up, and saw the female "host" waiting there at the front door, for us to enter. The inner door was also held open for us by another host. How sweet! We were quickly led to our table, and I immediately started looking at the floor- do they have peanut shells everywhere? They had actually been swept up, if there were. But then someone brought us two metal buckets- one with peanuts, and the other most likely to put our empty shells. Cool! Our female server was VERY nice. (In fact, my husband screwed up on his math for the tip, so I left her extra because she was so friendly). She was chatting with the kids, always asked how our meals were, even informed me after I ordered a margarita that it was Happy Hour (so yes, I ordered two!). As for our food, well first to the kid's menu. They got perfectly sized kids drinks. My son received a grilled cheese sandwhich and fries, which was good. My daughter got the popcorn chicken. OMG. It was served in a metal bucket, on top of fries, and served with this deliciously sweet BBQ sauce. It was yummy! And a real cute way to serve kids their food. Appetizers- we ordered the cheese balls, which I must say is really darn good. The server recommended it, so we bought some. MMMM Crispy-fried cheese rolled in bread crumbs. Served with marinara sauce. (this must be fairly new to their menu, as I don't see it on their website) For entres, my husband orded the Steak & Shrimp: "A juicy 6 oz. Steak paired with a skewer of tender Shrimp, Mesquite-grilled until simply mouth-watering!" The broccoli on the side was quite good, as was the rice. The steak would have been better, but it was over done. I ordered the Rattlesnake pasta. "Penne pasta with tomatoes, jalapeños, Alfredo sauce and a Cajun Chicken Breast." Wow, is this spicy! I was disappointed with this dish, though. The chicken was definately over cooked and almost chewy! Maybe they just had a bad night in the kitchen, on their meat station. Here's a link to their menu if you'd like to check it out. http://roadhousegrill.com/ourmenu.htm I'll give this a 4 out of 5 stars. Because the customer service far outweighed the overdone meat. LOL
