This non-profit, non-political organization has a Chapter Office in Apple Valley, CA, 92307, on 22021 Highway 18. This is one chapter of thousands of chapters that exist nationally. This organization follows the by-laws of the national organization, which is located in Burbank, CA, 91510 at P.O. Box 6637. The Assistance League of Victor Valley(ALVV) was founded in 1979. Public support funds raised by the chapter are returned to the community through their philanthropic projects. No one is paid for their positions. It is all volunteer. Victor Valley chapter directs it funds to the elementary children of this area with such programs as Operation School Bell (children who are not adequately clothed for school are furnished with two full outfits), Kids on the Block(Puppets visit the classrooms with scripts geared to the elementary age level about children understanding bullies, disabled youngsters, and other differences among them), Operation Hug (Cuddly bears are furnished to hospital emergency rooms), etc. The money that is raised at the Common Cents Thrift Shop at 22021 Highway 18, Suite A in Apple Valley raises money for these philanthropic projects. Donations are welcomed from the community. If you are interested in being a volunteer, call the chapter office at 760-961-2468, and the staff will explain the costs and requirements to become a member of this fine organization. I was a member for several years. I served on the board as a philanthropic vice president for a year. I met a lot of very fine ladies who love the children in our community that want to make a better life for these kids in our community,. There are also a lot of fun social activities to join in through the year besides all the hard work. You will definitely make long-time friendships as you get to know these group of ladies who give of their time for their community.
