Stay clear from these guys and their shady ways.
I went to Home Depot to look at water heaters and to find out how much the installation would be. They took my information and passed it on to their contractor that would do the install. Someone called me from Brothers to schedule the install. I was hesitant because I have heard through other people that Brothers are expensive, but I was willing to see what they said.
The "Plumber" showed up to give me a quote. Within 2 minutes of being at my house I knew this was a waste of time. I was interested in a heat pump water heater to save money and he immediately bad mouthed that choice. He then went on to say that he could install it, but it would be cheaper for me to purchase the water heater through them instead of using Home Depot. The whole time he was wearing a Home Depot contractor badge. I knew right then I knew I would never ever do business with Brothers.
He went outside to write up an estimate. He came back and showed me that a water heater install would be almost $1500, but if I purchased through them it would be $1700 which included the price of the water heater. Are you kidding me?? These people are insane. Also he didn't even quote me for the heat pump water heater. This was a regular 50 gallon electric water heater which I already have and it is working fine. All I wanted to do was try and be efficient and save some money in the process by installing a good water heater.
When I told him that he tried to sell me a tankless water heater for $6600. No thank you. This business is a joke. I will also be stopping by Home Depot with the quote so they can see what they are doing behind their back.
