As one of the reigning sushi-teers in Austin I give this place Kudos! I have had the pleasure of watching the transformation from the old French restaurant where is seriously lacked a decent decor to Uchi where the decor is reminiscent of Japan. With the late afternoon/early evening sun setting the asthetic was great.
Although the sushi is pricey, it is good and the service was great. The menu is more diverse than most sushi joints. But I believe Uchi is more of a Japanese Restaurant than a sushi place. If you like to be thrifty with your sushi, this place is not for you, but if you are into quality, fresh fish and experiencing some different flavors Uchi is the place for you.
My next vist I plan to partake in the Hot Rock...you are given a Hot Rock with raw beef and you sear it yourself....looks delicious.
