Cambridge 1 is the human to Newtowne Grill's chimpanzee - a smarter, evolved, place to get pizza and a pitcher. Let's start with the 'za itself. Wood fired in an open kitchen, the whole place is filled with a delicious scent of woodsmoke and crisping crust. The choices are on the lighter side, with a number of veggie options and the meaty ones being well balanced rather than sausage overload. I haven't yet had a bad pizza here, and would say that I've really liked almost everything. The beer selection is decent too. Nothing too fancy, you won't find Stone here or anything, but they do have solid beers and a good selection from light to dark, whatever you may choose. I've heard good things about the wine, but never tried it myself. The whole place is very hip looking. Black slate-like tables, huge ceilings, clean lines on everything. It's a comfortable place, and really good for groups of 8 or so with their numerous large tables. It's definitely a good place to stop after work with a bunch of friends or co-workers to unwind after a long week. The only downside is that you'll be paying quite a bit more money for a lot less filling pizza than you'd get from most places. The flatbread style always leaves me feeling like I've just had a great appetizer, but now need a real entree, and then I realize I've just paid as much as I would have at another bar for a couple beers and a burger. That said, this is a really cool place, with really good food, and I recommend it when you're in the mood for pizza and pitchers with some of your classier friends. Pros: Delicious pizza + good beer Cons: Expensive for pizza & pitchers
