I was a little wary of trying this place because I?d heard that the service was somewhat lacking, but several people I know kept going on and on about how great the food was, so I decided it was worth the risk. My friend and I had a reservation for 8:15 on Friday, and arrived about 5 minutes early. The hostess was extremely rude and informed us that we were early and would have to wait for about ?15 to 20 minutes?. So of course I was thinking to myself, ?so far this is not looking good.? We decided to just wait in the entry way rather than fight the crowd at the bar, so we stood there and watched the hostesses seat several people who walked in after us (maybe they had earlier reservations? I don?t know). My friend said that the hostess kept giving me dirty looks when I wasn?t looking at her, so he was getting pretty irritated. Finally, at about 8:30 a gentleman whom I?m assuming is the manager approached us and apologized profusely for our wait. He then escorted us back to a lovely table by the fireplace and told us to let him know if there was anything he could do to make our meal more enjoyable. This really impressed me because it appeared that he just sensed that we weren?t happy; we never actually complained. Our waiter arrived and was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. He helped us select an appetizer and wine, and returned very quickly with both. Throughout the meal, he was incredibly attentive. The food ? all of it ? was incredible! We started with the calamari, which was absolutely perfect. The menu is really varied and very creative. I had the Jasper?s Green salad and the peach pork tenderloin with baked potato salad. I wasn?t nearly able to finish everything, but I wish that I could have because it was wonderful. I?d definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone. Just be prepared to deal with some attitude from the girls at the front. Besides that, it was a great experience and I will certainly be going back!
