I'm not sure what happened the day I went to Brooklyns, but it did not live up to its previous reviews about the food being good. My family & I went for Sunday brunch yesterday. We arrived just after noon, when Brooklyns actually opens, not at 11 a.m. as their website states. We were seated by the owner. She asked if we would like Bloody Marys or Mimosas. We ordered Bloody Marys and then did not see any servers for a very long time. We were never given a menu or even told we could order off a menu. After a while, we saw other customers going and getting food from some pans on a table off to the side of the bar. This consisted of what looked like leftover chicken wings and leftover fried potatoes, some kind of gravy, what looked like canned chili, lukewarm oatmeal and grits, some kind of warmed over sausage patty, store bought pastries and a little bit of fresh fruit (the pineapple looked several days old). When we went back to our table, a server finally appeared and said that they were out of Blood Marys and offered us Mimosas with the champagne on the house. At this point we had tried the food which was not very warm and not very good. We ended up leaving the food on the plates and going some where else for brunch. All I can say is I was very disappointed, especially given the amount of reviews saying the food was good. I'm not sure what was going on yesterday, but I will never go back as the experience was not a good one at all. Also, the ladies' restroom was not clean and running very low on toilet paper and paper towels. Out of all the brunches I've been to, I can't even think of anything positive to say about this one. I'm not sure if this is normal for Brooklyn's Sunday brunch or if we just came on a really off day.
