Review content:
I've been a patient of Dr. Tharkan's for about a year and have been happy with him and his staff until the last couple of months. Now it is impossible to get through to anyone or to get a return phone call. That is why, today, when I went in for my appointment, I tried to talk to someone about my bill. I had a question about it and had called three times to straighten it out but got no return call. Today in the office I was having a civil discussion about it with the receptionist and someone I thought was from the billing department when a large lady came storming out of her office. She ranted and raved at me while I stood there (stupidly) crying. I asked her why she was talking to me like that and she straightened up, looked at me straight in the eye, and said, ""Because I can"". I asked her if this was worth losing three patients over and she said, ""Definately"" and walked off. Her poor employees just stood there with their eyes down. I went back around the front to pay the 150 dollars so important to her (she threatened to send me to collections tomorrow) and just asked who talks to people that way? Then I began a conversation with the allergist on staff there. Out of no where, she comes storming at me and asks if I have a problem or something to say about her relationship with her husband! I told her I don't even know who your husband is. She proudly told me, ""Dr. Tharakan. The DOCTOR is my husband. Good luck finding another doctor."" She turned around and walked off. I am still dumbfounded by this. I pay my co pay every single time I come in, I never miss appointments nor am I ever late. It was not only uncalled for, it was abusive. So, between the inablitiy to get through to the doctor or the billing department, the high turn over rate of the staff, the long waits (it's usually about half hour to 45 minutes now) and the abuse freely dished out by the doctor's wife, I say, don't go here! There are plenty of doctors in San Antonio. It was a surreal experience.
