Dr. Tharakan's wife (CEO and Office manager is how she refers to herself) was verbally abusive, and completely unprofessional. She used profanity towards me and was completely unreasonable. We are active duty military, and my husband is a Psychiatric provider. He called back and spoke with her himself, and she admitted using profanity towards me and laughed. My husband recorded the conversation and told her it was going to be recorded, which she acknowledge with ok. Her response was she was a Texas woman and that's how they act when upset. Save your sanity and go elsewhere. The Dr. was fine but his wife is not professional enough to be running his office. more

To respond to "" doctorless"" - we asked Citisearch to remove the comment since it was a lie, but they have not removed it now for three years. The person who commented called "" doctorless"" did speak to me after I asked my staff in the front what was going on, because I heard a person yelling in our front office- I was having a meeting with two people from Austin on the new parameters for signing on to new insurance providers at the time. I came upfront when I heard the commotion and picked up a paper from my printer in the front when the woman ( ""doctorless""- who I do know the name of and remember her quite well) wanted to be seen even though she did not have any insurance she wanted to be seen with her ex-husband's insurance who was back from the military and did not have her as a beneficiary on the account. See- she lied. I also work very hard and I never yell and I run my clinic as a service to the Lord, without getting anything in return. As C.E.O. I know there are people that may not like you, but you can always put your best foot forward and do your best. So many of my patients adore me- for that I am grateful. I never yelled at this individual- I don't yell. She asked me who I was, she did not see my picture on the walls everywhere- so I said I am the doctor's wife. She retorted,"" ohhh....I see...your the WIFE!"" I am not sure what that means. I just do my work and do it well from the books to the blueprints. It is unfortunate that there are people who try to get a free doctor's visit and not pay and will do almost anything to get attention. All we can do is pray for such individuals. At our clinic you will be treated with the utmost respect, get an M.D. from prominent schools, and have little to no wait time as well as full attention to your healthcare needs. more

I've been Seeing Dr Tharakan for 4 years now. He's the type of dr to take his time and listen. When my daughter was born, he became her dr as well. I love that he's not quick to prescribe medicine. He tries different things and is not closed to hearing about new things. more

Long waits, no return phone calls and abuse from Reshmey 5/7/2010

I've been a patient of Dr. Tharkan's for about a year and have been happy with him and his staff until the last couple of months. Now it is impossible to get through to anyone or to get a return phone call. That is why, today, when I went in for my appointment, I tried to talk to someone about my bill. I had a question about it and had called three times to straighten it out but got no return call. Today in the office I was having a civil discussion about it with the receptionist and someone I thought was from the billing department when a large lady came storming out of her office. She ranted and raved at me while I stood there (stupidly) crying. I asked her why she was talking to me like that and she straightened up, looked at me straight in the eye, and said, ""Because I can"". I asked her if this was worth losing three patients over and she said, ""Definately"" and walked off. Her poor employees just stood there with their eyes down. I went back around the front to pay the 150 dollars so important to her (she threatened to send me to collections tomorrow) and just asked who talks to people that way? Then I began a conversation with the allergist on staff there. Out of no where, she comes storming at me and asks if I have a problem or something to say about her relationship with her husband! I told her I don't even know who your husband is. She proudly told me, ""Dr. Tharakan. The DOCTOR is my husband. Good luck finding another doctor."" She turned around and walked off. I am still dumbfounded by this. I pay my co pay every single time I come in, I never miss appointments nor am I ever late. It was not only uncalled for, it was abusive. So, between the inablitiy to get through to the doctor or the billing department, the high turn over rate of the staff, the long waits (it's usually about half hour to 45 minutes now) and the abuse freely dished out by the doctor's wife, I say, don't go here! There are plenty of doctors in San Antonio. It was a surreal experience. more
