First off: I love 13. I love the ambiance. I love the building. I love the neighborhood. Getting over my hang ups: I just can't justify spending $13/glass. Or waiting 30 min for my glass. It can be dead as a doornail or busy as a bee but I've never waited less than 15 min looking my thirstiest and eagerest to get help at the bar. And yes, one time I waited 30 min and all my friends were served until my glass of wine was served. And ... no apology. But I've been back. Lots. On slow nights exclusively. Man, since they've redone their outdoor patio I can't get enough of it. BUT THE END ALL BE ALL: sparkling shiraz. To my knowledge you can only get this nectar at 13 and Sonoma. [Even Spec's had been out the last 5 times I've tried to purchase.] I was lured back to 13 b/c a friend said they had $5 happy hour specials. Well, sure, white wine only and very little. I'm a low brow girl - where's my cheap prosecco? I like very little white wine. And none of it includes the word chardonnay. So I dropped a good amount of money [at least for me] to get my sparkling shiraz - hey, it was an exceptionally hard Monday. And yes, it was totally worth it. But I can only do that once every 6 months. Conclusion: 13 is a place to escape the pretentious on the patio Sun - Wed if you can spend $9-13/glass AND IT IS TOTALLY WORTH IT. But otherwise, I choose boheme and other happy hours for my wine. I heard Reef has an amazingly low mark up - next on the list. I do love their scallops. Pros: sparkling shiraz, patio - trust me, that's all you need Cons: price, food selection, parking
