Businiess name:  Rue 57

Review content:
On a recent trip to the city to meet a friend, he suggested we all have lunch at Rue57 because of the varied menu. Hearing the name I assumed it served French cafe food, but much to my surprise it is a lunch, brunch, and sushi eatery. Of course I thought this was an odd combo, but where food is concerned, why not in our eclectic food universe. The place was bustling and oh so loud. I tried to make a phone call and actually had to step outside on 57th street where I could hear better. If you can ignore the loud conversations (due to all of the hard surfaces) and the wait staff scurrying around, the food is quite good. We all had tasty meals and cleaned our plates. My husband had a very satisfying scallop platter. These plump minimally prepared scallops were perfectly done with a veggie garnish and he ate every piece. I had a wonderfully grilled salmon entree that was beautifully plated with steamed (still alive) vegetables. There were luscious carrots, crispy string beans and ruby red tomatoes. Our friend ordered a salad but I did not notice what he had so I can't comment. He also ordered a wonderful cylinder of the best French fries (unsalted) for us to share. They were yummy - not drenched with oil and salt, and oh so good on the taste buds. Now for the bad. This is not a place someone could afford on a regular basis but for a treat I would go back whenever I visit the city. The other drawback is that the ladie's room is way down under for someone who has a leg problem like myself. I made it, but it was a long climb up to the main floor. Pros: Good food, Efficient service, Clean, Nice decor Cons: Noise level was 100 decibels, Rest rooms down below
