A colleague of mine, who happens to be in HR was complaining that there was one part of his job he very much disliked; that of having to interview candidates who walked in with bad breath. He was asking me how he should tactfully tell these people that they had Halitosis or bad breath. I of course playfully told him to carry breath fresheners and offer them to the candidates, before he began to interview them. Jokes apart, Halitosis can be a big embarrassment and I always make it a point to constantly check my breath. I also visit my most trusted dentist Dr. Shirin Shahriar who consults at The Newton Dental Group in Newton, MA. Bad breath is the third hyper reason why we must seek dental aid. Bad breath can occur due to bad food habits but in most cases it is because of the bacteria present in the mouth which thrive on either food deposits or dead epithelial cells, or because of sinusitis. Bad breath can also occur because of dry mouth or due to use of tobacco products. Nevertheless, no matter what the cause may be, maintaining oral hygiene is very important and can save us many an embarrassing moment and besides people like my poor friend won’t have to suffer. Dr. Shirin Shahriar during my regular dental visits also ensures that she does a complete medical examination of my mouth and she checks on my dietary habits, tobacco use, medications, medical conditions and family history. Thanks to Dr. Shirin Shahriar, I am one happy confident young man who never has to worry about Halitosis or embarrassing moments.
