Review content:
I've been eating here for years, ever since I moved into the neighborhood. First and most importantly, the food is great. The fish is of the highest quality, served in massive slices that hang over the rice. Order from the menu and you'll be fine, but if you let the chefs create special dishes for you, you'll be blown away. Also, each and every person who works there treats you like family, and if you sit at the sushi bar you'll have the time of your life with the chefs. Since it's primarily a local crowd, the people eating there are as friendly as the staff and make everyone feel welcome. One cautionary note, however, is that some of the humor at the sushi bar can be, um, blue...from the chefs and patrons alike. Still, I've never had a problem bringing friends and family, all of whom leave loving the place. There's a full cocktail bar to relax at before and after dinner, too.
Everybody's got their arguments about the best sushi in LA, but taking everything into account --from food to price to people-- this is LA's very best sushi restaurant.
Pros: Great food, warm and wonderful staff, friendly crowd
Cons: I'm occasionally forced to eat elsewhere
