We answered an ad on Craigslist for an appliance for sale the same day it was posted, both by email and then with phone followup the next day. He described the item for us and led us to believe it was for sale, but when we offered to pay by phone to hold it, the manager told us he’d have to check if it was “available” with the owner first. A day later they tell us it’s already sold but we should keep checking back as they are trying to get more of them. It seems like it should be obvious to a store if something is sold or not when they talk to a customer and given it was advertised at a very low price, I question if they really had one for sale at that price.
