Back in 1971 I was just a surf hungry kid and always hanging out in his shop in Tarzana, right across the street from the Corbin Bowling Alley and theater. I sat in this funky chair he had, read Surfer magazines and go to meet all his friends who came in.
Glenn had a small shaping room in the back and he used to let me answer the phone for him and run the shop. Shoot, I even sold a wetsuit or two and maybe even a couple of rack boards.
He shaped all of my boards until I moved out of the West Valley. He even took me surfing, Malibu, Huntington. Silver Strands and a few other places.
He was my biggest influence and even today, living in Oregon, still surfing, I owe so much to the man.
Thanks,
John Mason
