Ruby Tuesday used to be a favorite place to eat. The menu was varied, selections were plentiful; the food was consistent, and you could eat a decent meal without taking a second mortgage on your home. I'm not sure when this changed.
Last weekend, my daughter and her family visited from out of town. We had Sunday dinner at Ruby Tuesday. The first thing that struck me was the small number of items on the menu. The second thing that struck me was how expensive EVERYTHING was. The third thing that struck me was how mediocre the meal was. I had an 8-ounce sirloin, ordered medium rare. Granted, sirloin isn't the best cut of meat. Even though the steak was done to order, it just wasn't as tender as a sirloin should have been. I'm also not sure what it says when the most numerous selections on the menu are burgers.
I regret to say that Ruby Tuesday is no longer a favored place to eat. We'll probably check back periodically, must to see if anything has changed. Unfortunately, I think that Ruby Tuesday may be pricing themselves out of a fairly important market: those who are on a limited budget, but still want to make a special evening. I think that in the future, you'll find these folks at Applebees, one of the Roadhouse eateries, or even an up-scale pizzeria.
