Dr. Z. diagnosed my cat, Max, with renal failure with complications. She refused to give a prognosis, but said the alternative was a long hospital stay and surgery. He was old and I didn't want him afraid and alone, so I said I would have him put to sleep, but I asked to spend some time with him first. He was alert when I left him for tests. They brought him to me completely limp, one eye staring, one eye shut, mouth hanging open and barely breathing. When I cried, Dr. Z and the receptionist shouted at me that I had requested sedation, he really was conscious, and it's always done this way. Max never blinked during the shouting. Actually, I didn't request it, but I guess I signed for sedation, but I didn't think it meant comatose. None of my other pets were euthanized that way. What moron wouldn't know you would want to say goodbye to your CONSCIOUS cat? I loved Max so dearly for 11 years. These people robbed us of our goodbyes, lied to me, and attacked me when I cried. Don't go there.
