I have lived in Asheville for over 16 years and when I have particularly expensive or challenge items to be cleaned I take them to Asheville Cleaners even though I live in the far south part of Buncombe County.
My last experience was with a cherished blouse, embroidered desert scene on the front, which I had washed and dried with a tube of copperglaze brown(!) lipstick in the load. The whole load came out with multi-shaped brownish red polka dots! I used several of the spot remover cleaners - oxygen based and the one that yells for you - and rewashed several times but to little avail. When I was just about to give up and retire my cherished blouse I decided to call Asheville Cleaners to ask if they might be able to help. While they did not guarantee success, when they looked at the two items I selected for them to rescue the owner thought there was a possibility.
When I returned to get the items several days later I was pleased. If I look very carefully at the clothing I can detect slight reminders of my folly but both items were adequately salvaged. Again I can wear and continue to get compliments on my "Arizona" shirt!
I'm sorry about the previous poster's experience. Weddings are such a high emotion time and we wish them to be absolutely perfect but they rarely are. I'm glad that she was able to press the dress to her satisfaction. There's a good possibility that only she noticed the dreaded black spots.
I've found Asheville Cleaners to be consistently a reputable business, willing to refund cleaning fees and rectify mistakes when the customer is not satisfied. I will continue to make the trip and save my most cherished items for them to clean.
