Bad Experience ! 12/3/2013

Too bad that Guy, Jr. does not have the ethics of his uncle and father! Guy,JR. is the manager (but calls himself the owner) that previous reviewers are complaining about. He is selfish, believes he can do no wrong, and very cheap. You'll get no apology, or money, from him! Asheville Cleaners ruined some items of mine. Guy promised to make everything good, but never did. They have lost my business. more

Ruined clothes and an attitude 12/22/2010

I've hade clothes ruined before, and i've been insulted before, but this was a first for both at the same time. After I complained about ruined item, owner "Guy" came out and said I should take my cheap junk somewhere else next time. more

Excellent Service 2/7/2009

I have used Asheville Cleaners for many years and have been extremely satisfied. Fulton Roberts the owner is the type of man that bends over backwards to satisfy his customers and gives that troubled garment a special touch. They have done the impossible several times for me in cleaning items I thought were beyond cleaning. You won’t find a better cleaner or laundry anywhere. more

A History of Good Performance 1/21/2007

I have lived in Asheville for over 16 years and when I have particularly expensive or challenge items to be cleaned I take them to Asheville Cleaners even though I live in the far south part of Buncombe County. My last experience was with a cherished blouse, embroidered desert scene on the front, which I had washed and dried with a tube of copperglaze brown(!) lipstick in the load. The whole load came out with multi-shaped brownish red polka dots! I used several of the spot remover cleaners - oxygen based and the one that yells for you - and rewashed several times but to little avail. When I was just about to give up and retire my cherished blouse I decided to call Asheville Cleaners to ask if they might be able to help. While they did not guarantee success, when they looked at the two items I selected for them to rescue the owner thought there was a possibility. When I returned to get the items several days later I was pleased. If I look very carefully at the clothing I can detect slight reminders of my folly but both items were adequately salvaged. Again I can wear and continue to get compliments on my "Arizona" shirt! I'm sorry about the previous poster's experience. Weddings are such a high emotion time and we wish them to be absolutely perfect but they rarely are. I'm glad that she was able to press the dress to her satisfaction. There's a good possibility that only she noticed the dreaded black spots. I've found Asheville Cleaners to be consistently a reputable business, willing to refund cleaning fees and rectify mistakes when the customer is not satisfied. I will continue to make the trip and save my most cherished items for them to clean. more

Unbelievably horrible 8/21/2005

I grew up in Asheville, so I got married there just 2 years ago. My family always thought of Asheville Cleaners as the best cleaners in town - the place to take things that were really important. When I needed my gown pressed the week before the wedding, we, of course, took it to Asheville Cleaners. Big mistake! When I came to pick it up on Tuesday, I was disappointed that it was more wrinkled than when I dropped it off. I explained my disappointment to the owner. He assured me it would be re-done and told me, to my displeasure, that they had been trying someone new - on my $2k+ wedding gown! I came back to get the dress on Wednesday - imagine my horror when I found that it had tiny black specks all over the skirt that hadn't been there before. They decided that it would be better to not keep it in its garment bag for some reason. I started crying. My mom showed up a moment later, and the worker put the dress on the counter to show her the spots. I cried even harder when I saw the yellow highlighter mark he got on the dress. He promised it would all be taken care of the next day. I went by on Thursday to pick it up, but the owner told me it wasn't ready yet. I told him how upset this was making me and he brusquely told me not to worry and that I was getting too upset over nothing. The next day (Friday) I went to get my dress. The highlighter mark was gone, but the black spots were still there and the dress was just as wrinkled as when I dropped it off. The owner told me it was too bad, refunded my money for the pressing, and told me I should take it somewhere else if I didn't like the work they'd done. Since my wedding was that weekend, I obviously had no time to take the dress anywhere else (I called around and no one could help on such short notice). I ended up pressing my spotted dress myself and just hoping no one looked too closely at it. When I wrote to the BBB to complain of my experience, the owner wrote back, complaining that I was "difficult" and "too hard to please." I am still appalled that someone would find it acceptable for a cleaners to get spots on a wedding dress just days before a wedding and tell you to get over it. Please take your business elsewhere. more
