Charges, Lawsuits, Bankruptcy Plague Business 9/19/2006

One owner recently pleaded guilty to charges resulting from a felony second degree theft arrest. This is in addition to two prior convictions for domestic assault against him for the abuse of his concubine and fellow owner of Newhall Service Center. Also, this establishment was cited for selling tobacco products to minors. The following is an excerpt from an official state tobacco compliance report: Newhall Service Center 102 Rail Road St Newhall Date:1/ 31/2005 Time: 1600 Retailer#: 11,623.00 Result: NON-COMPLIANT There is also civil litigation in progress against same co-owner regarding a traffic accident in which this individual is accused of knowingly lending his vehicle to a person he knew was barred from driving. An accident resulted and a person was injured. The two co-owners of Newhall Service Center, who cohabitate, are attempting to escape liability through a bankruptcy discharge they received earlier in 2006. They filed for bankruptcy in 2002. Final judgement in the matter is still pending before Linn County District Court. As if that weren't enough, this establishment, along with it's owners, also has a judgement against it resulting from a lawsuit brought by a Vinton, Iowa bank in 2005. more
