There is so much in the news and in commercials about identity theft. Since I shop on the web a lot I decided to be proactive and do all I could to avoid being a victim. I came across a great solution. Since I had a Citi Bank charge card, their identity theft program was definitely for me.
I signed up and downloaded their virtual charge card. It was simple and quick. Now, when I use my Citi Bank charge card for purchases on the web, a small charge card pops up on the screen at check out. I enter my log in and password, chose the option, I want to create a virtual charge number, the program fills in the charge information on the check out page of the site for me. I check all the information is correct and I'm done. No one gets my actual charge account number. The program issues a different number each time I use it and the charge goes through my actual account. What could be easier? You see the actual transaction on your statement.
Best yet, it's free.
