Great stop for breakfast 2/14/2007

Country Club Diner 1743 East Ave Rochester, NY 14610 (585) 271-7710 Knowing that we needed to get to the grocery store, and knowing that if we don’t eat first we essentially double our grocery bill, we decided we needed a quick breakfast. Right across Wegmans on East Avenue, is a small diner in a strip mall. Diners can be a hit or miss trip, and we were hoping for hit. The diner itself was classic 80’s diner décor, but found it to be nice and clean. We were promptly seated, and our server was prompt in getting over to introduce herself. We both ordered coffee and found it to be decent, drinkable coffee. While we are not talking Starbucks here, it was good enough to down a couple of cups. I was feeling like everything, so I ordered a platter that consisted of two eggs, 4 slices of French toast, bacon and a side of home fries. The eggs came out exactly as ordered and while the French toast wasn’t as thick as I like it, it was more than edible. No choices of syrup here, but the regular did the trick. The bacon was a bit too crispy, but I found the homefries to be excellent with just the right type of seasoning. All of this for $4.60, plus $.85 for the homefries. My dining companion had the Eggs Benedict with homefries ($5.85, plus $.85 for homefries). The homefries he received were slightly cold, but slathered with ketchup still tasty. Overall, it was a tasty dish with the eggs done to perfection and the sauce just right. All in all, a nice stop and we had a filling breakfast before our shopping trip. This is a place I wouldn’t hesitate returning to for a quick and friendly bite to eat. Visit Eat Out Rochester: http://eatoutrochester.blogspot.com/ more
