If you go to FL, you should try and make a trip to Kennedy Space Center. It appeals to both kids as well as adults. You see real space shuttles, and sometimes you can time it where you can see a real launch! They have lots of activities, and great tours on air conditioned buses! You can spend the whole day here. As for places around the Space Center, there are a few hotels, but nothing as far as shopping or restaurants.
