I'm a definite fan of German food, so I switch back between Gus's and the Black Forest Mill in Highland Mills. Where Black Forest is more of a typical restaurant, Gus's has the pub atmosphere with hearty food to match. When I dine there, we usually end up eating the same entrees each time: sauerbraten for me, schitzel for the fiance. We both insist on spaetzl as the side dish, which is delicious. The prices are reasonable; their prime rib special is an excellent deal. Gus's is the kind of place you come for comfort food when you get home from work, just too tired to cook.
