It's definitely not as elegant as Uwajimaya, and not as large, but it definitely does not cater to the same clientèle. Maruta Shoten is in the "industrial" district, and its demographic is "blue collar" -- they don't need fancy decor, but they do want to see attention to what is practical. And it is definitely Asian! They carry some things that people who think that they understand Asian cuisine (by virtue of frequenting Chinese restaurants in America) will not recognize.
