It should come as no surprise that the Saint Paul farmer's market is the best source for affordable produce in town. What did surprise me, however, is that the Saint Paul farmer's market is the best source for Asian produce in the entire midwest. (I don't think that I am exaggerating)
Most of the farmers at the Saint Paul farmers market hail from Southeast Asia. Every Saturday morning they bring the most beautiful vegetables you have ever seen to Lowertown (For more dates and location checkout www.stpaulfarmersmarket.com). Make sure to try the Chinese and Thai eggplant and to buy a bunch of aromatic sweet Basil.
Street parking is free (two hour limit) during the market, but you might have to park a few blocks away. Prominent signs throughout the city point the way to the market.
